Welcome, It is great to look forward to retirement. However you will probably work harder in retirement. It seems like there is never enough time to do the things you enjoy.

I would like to know what the dark line running across the center of the first picture you posted is.

Hey there, the line is the edge of the glass topped table! Cheers

I don't think so.

Hi Gaylord..just wondering, what you, 'dont think so'??

There were two things that were confusing. 1. The ripples in the glass were not like what I recalled my glass table having.

2. The ridge of my table was white, and your ridge is dark or black.

I wouldn't want you to feel badly afterwards for not taking a few pictures of the bride and groom even if it is before or after the wedding.

As a father of a groom, I took a video of his wedding, and I believe it made a nice Wedding gift. Anyway it made me feel good that I did.

I hope you get some good shots.

What are your two small cameras? I have enjoyed photo's from all the camera's I have ever owned, and that probably started with a Brownie. Welcome to UHH.

Thank you so much for your help SoHillGuy, do you think this one would suit me? I'm really grateful for your help here.

Pam, it is hard to answer this question, without knowing your background in using cameras. I suspect that the new Canon T4i also has a point and shoot function, but you should varify that. If you are are good at reading and understanding camera operation manuals, then you should be OK. There is a learning curve and it never ends.
I know there are other members that can give you information on the camera's of their choice
Good Luck

I have not run across a company, or publisher that has requested submissions be in the form of slides. How old is the material in your travels writing course?
