"They" were "yours" but were "you" "their's?" Who owned whom?

I owned them.....I got Rudy when he was 4 and I got Major when he was 10. Rudy was my go to trail horse for 15 yrs. He got arthritis so bad in his front knee that he could no longer go on trail rides. We always had 3 or 4 horses....two for riding and 1 or 2 for packing. But when Rudy got to the point that he could no longer go....he HATED staying behind and would just run the pasture making his knee so much worse.

I made the decision to give him to a friend of mine that had a single older horse. Was the hardest decision I have ever had to make but it was the right one for Rudy. Then about a year had gone by and Major was to the point that he could no longer go and my friend wanted him as well.

So the two best friends are now back together.

These are among the best old friends one could have.

I agree, it broke my heart to have to let them go but I am so very very lucky to have found a wonderful new home that they love and are loved.

Great reunion. Do you get to ride them also? Or just visit? Visits are nice! I went to visit a filly I had let go. She turned her back to me and walked to the other end of the paddock. Broke my heart.

No you can't ride either one anymore. That's the main reason we got out of the horse trail riding. Rudy got arthritis in his front knee so bad that you could no longer ride him. Major got arthritis in his front shoulder.

I am so sorry your filly did that, that would break my heart too.

Nice shots of your old buds. Did they ever seem to be upset with you that you moved them to another owner?

Stan

Thanks Stan and no they don't.....you can tell that they are partial to their new mom now but they still run to me when I call them. Rudy and I used to play a lot...he really likes to play tug of war.....I have a special stick that has rubber on it and he will bite it in the middle...I grab both sides and he shakes it to try and get it away from me, when I lose my grip...he will hold still till I get a hold of and the game starts over again.

He won't do this with anyone else....it's hilarious!!
