Do your own editing before uploading. Smug Mug will do everything possible to help you with your web site but you've got to do your part when it comes to your pictures. I usually up load full size (12 x 18) images that run anywhere from 5mb to 15mb. From these, they will produce the size requested by the customer.
I've been a Smug Mug user over 5 years and I will not change. Anytime that I've called customer service, I've received a reply in minutes. The service is wonderful.
I'm set up to sell and I've found that the print quality is great. Never had a return.
All sites go down from time to time. Smug Mug keeps you informed of their progress whenever problems appear (which is rare).
I've got the Pro version. It allows you to do anything for a flat rate per year: unlimited uploads, unlimited hits, multi-location backup storage of all files, great service. They maintain a separate website for user called www.digitalgrin.com. Check it out.

Recently ran into this site and found it interesting.
I'm a New Englander from Massachusetts who has been shooting for years.
Hope to learn some stuff and possibly help some others.
