Took a walk on a few of my favorite easy trails for wildlife. Canon 6d Mkii 150-600mm Sigma C, Gilded Flicker Woodpecker, Eastern Screech Owl, Downy Woodpeckers very where, Red Tail Hawk checking me out...Enjoy.

You captured some interesting wildlife images on your walk, NSEPho. In my opinion, they need cropping, but other than that, they are excellent.

We spent 7 weeks over at a friends ranch in Winnett MT this past hunting season. I posted a lot of shots of the elk and landscapes around the area...so here are a few of the other critters we saw.

Hope you like them.

What a fantastic set, Cindy. You captured an amazing variety of interesting critters.

....at the first of a 'shoot'.

Here's the deal: Yesterday I'd posted a couple of images I'd shot the afternoon before. Both of those were 'initial impressions' of the little I'd shot (in the sense of having 'seen' quite a lot, but had shot relatively little of during the time that I'd been out), while the attached is what I'd specifically 'gone to see' in that space of that time, and was the first (a 'sequence' in the sense of it being a 'pano' comprised of a dozen shots) of what I'd shot.

Today, I spent a bit more time on this image --the image attached-- and it's fairly precisely the image I meant to make. By 'make', I mean having 'made' it while continuing to 'learn' the workings of the most recent --and more-or-less revolutionary-- updates that've been incorporated into Adobe LightRoom's capabilities. Those who don't 'process' beyond the basics --cropping, WB, some mild color correction, leveling a horizon or what-have-you may not care a whit, but I'm finding these 'new' tools well worth the (pittance) of gold that I get charged per month.

The picture is not 'Mormon Row' up in Teton, it likewise isn't 'Tunnel View' over in Yosemite, and it most definitely isn't some unpronounceable place in Iceland. It is, conversely, a very particular --though purposefully 'un-iconic'-- place I've been a number of times before, and it's a place that 'works for me.' It's also a place that's accessible on (an almost) moment's --okay, half an hour, but who's counting?-- notice.

Bottom line is: this is what I went to get. And I got what I wanted to get. But not before I'd 'made' it using a camera and some software.

This is an assassin bug. They are in the group of true bugs. These are one bug that I don't handle, they can cause a lot of pain and do much damage with their proboscis. They use it to puncture their prey and inject it with enzymes that turn the inside to soup which they then slurp up using their proboscis as a straw. I wouldn't want them to do that to my hand.

That is one ugly bug, Jim. Where on earth did you find it?

This is the time of year when the bighorn sheep are in rut. The herd we witnessed contained about 15 females and 4 rams. Although several rams were challenging each other they actually collided only once (which shot opportunity I missed... doh!).

A pleasing set, HR. Thank you for posting these excellent captures.
