I got my 7100 about year and half ago. Yes read the manual, then just experiment, then read manual again. you will learn more each time. I joined a camera club in my area, they are a wonderful support group. They offer a class to teach basics, then I was out photographing and met another photographer and we became fast friends, He helps me out a lot too. Don't be shy to ask questions. My local camera store employee has even told be info I did not know. The internet is also full of excellent tutorials. if you are reading manual, have camera present. so you can locate buttons and dials as you go. Enjoy!

Thanks everyone, Facebook is to public, I really do to want to add 56 girls to my friends list. I have a flickr account but I know you have to add as a friend to use again i really don't want to send out 56 invites. I do have a dropbox have not used it much, did not realize it had this capability, I will look into trying it.

I have been taking Photos of my daughters cheer team this year. All the girls want me to send them pics. I am looking for a site where they can look and download their pics for free from me. Not looking to make money off of these. I would like a way to keep it private though, with maybe just a password to let them in. Any suggestions?

I just learned this today, actually google watermarks in photoshop, it will give you a few options to watch or read thru. One is the actions, like was mentioned before. I am still trying to figure this one out completely. The other is making your signature a preset brush. I liked this option for quick and easy for a newby like me. I still want to get the action one down all the way. I am just not sure how it saves it for future, or how to turn it off. It kept coming up, whenever I opened an image. I finally got it to stop then did not know how to get it back. I am very good at being able to do something once then not knowing how to do again. Good luck, google watermarks for photographs it will give you step by steps

I joined my camera club this year. We have a friendly competition every two months. Then we have a print show competition at the end of the year. For monthly competitions every club member votes. There are no names posted. We vote on tally card, from 1-5 how well we think the individual photo is done. Then a machine tallys the cards and the winners are announced. We also either have a member or a guest give a critique. Most usually only pick a few photos to either praise good points or say what they feel might have worked better on a certain photo. I do not always agree with the winers, but in most part I believe they are close. Art is always in the eye of the beholder. I have not done the print show yet. But i believe we have members choice and three guest judges. We have professionals and beginners in the club. Everyone is friendly. We do not usually offer drinks or food. Except in a few of the classes that are given. I have met and feel comfortable talking to a ten or twelve of the people in the club. Let me say that I can not usually stay long after meeting to chit chat, I have a daughter i need to get home to. Some people do not have the personality to just go up to new people, I am not that person. So if you want to meet people do as I did, introduce yourself and start talking to them first. Being new to photography it has paid off for me, I have been sold a tripod and a new head for extremely good prices, another member gave me a lot of his back issues of photography magazines. Make an effort to get to know these people, many people are not extroverts. I also sign up for other opportunities to be around them and to improve my skills, such as a free class that was taught, or do shooting for the special olympics(that was a great experience). I can say that I talk to the top dogs in my camera club and they are very nice. Maybe I am lucky.
