I do not believe that the cost of healthcare for both Chicago teachers and Dallas teachers is the same. It would be fantastic if my daughter had a $600 deductible and a $2700 out of pocket maximum. That kind of health insurance is not available for the amount of money that you're showing, which leads me to suspect all the other figures. Another reason that I don't trust those health figures is that I know what the total cost of my wife's health insurance was when she worked a large hospital here. It was good insurance but the total cost was $12,000/year and it was not as good as the Chicago teachers'. In other words, Chicago teachers are getting "luxury" health insurance. Dallas teachers are not. Who knows about other benefit packages.

The difference comes in health insurance. Chicago teachers have BCBS PPO with a $600 individual deductible and a $2700 maximum out of pocket. One of my daughters is a Dallas ISD teacher and its insurance is not good (she recently had to change doctors because they dropped a major hospital from its plan) and she pays through the nose to cover herself and her kids. Some employees would rather have excellent health insurance than a higher wage. That appears to be the case in Chicago. For one thing, you don't pay income tax on health insurance and other benefits.

I find your statement interesting, but inaccurate. If you watched the rally before and after, many of the people attending were from out of state, i.e not from Oklahoma. This is a disease that is 5 times more virulent than the flu, with currently no v*****e or cure. Masks are to prevent you passing on the disease to others.

The President's encouragement of not wearing masks is extremely ill-advised, as is having rallies with people without masks gathering in close proximity. Likewise, so are the protestors, the crowds on the beach and so on.

Timing of the disease - if some contract this disease they may not be symptomatic but once they get home the incubation the clock starts again for those with decreased immunities, the elderly, etc.

The President should be setting an example; he is, but it is the wrong one.
