That was my first car! Not in the cool turquoise, of course. I had the olive green with a lighter green landau roof, called "The Snake." It was an awesome car! Had a black 442 later on, too. Thanks for the pic! And the memory :-)

Not every shot has to be high-tech pixel perfect.

Call those blown whites "high-contrast accents".
Call that nasty noise "pseudo film-grain".
Call the halos "highlights".
Wrap it in a frame and share it.

People love losers.
It makes them feel good about themselves.

Thanks for the reminder! We're SO critical with our own work...we forget that it's still great and we are blessed to be able to capture these amazing images!

I love photography for the fun of it, and for me the challenge because sometimes I really don't know what I'm doing, but I do try and figure it out. I do a lot of deleting, but the pictures I keep I'm proud of.
I own a Canon eos30D, with a 70-300mm, 28-135mm and a compact-macro 50mm.
I've read many comments on the Canon sx50hs.....
why would I want or need this????
...should I just be satisfied with what I have??
My daughter thinks my lenses are excellent and I should just be happy....
I'd be interested in your opinions.... thanks

I'm considering the Canon SX50, also. (Versus the Nikon Coolpix P600). My Canon SX40 died. (Ok, it fell out of my camera bag and hit the hickory floor, so I guess I killed it.)

I LOVED the SX40. Good quality images & easy to use. The newer SX50 goes to 1200mm. Granted, at that zoom, you give up some sharpness, but unless you want to spend LOTS on a really honkin' zoom (and be burdened with carrying it around), the SX 50 (or SX60 if it is released this summer) is a great little carry-around.

At shorter focal lengths, your Canon eos is probably better (also, you already know how it works). But for longer shots, the SX50 is great! I shoot a lot of wildlife (sorry!) - - take pictures of - - and don't want my presence to interfere with their lives any more than necessary.

How do you set it on the 2x? I just bought the SX50.

I have the same dilemma. I had the Canon SX40 (35x zoom)and it just died. Bought the SX50 this morning, then saw that Canon is coming out with the SX60, supposedly the end of May (which would make it more comparable to the Nikon P600.) I also have a Nikon DSLR, but always take the Canon with me for the long shots (bald eagles, elk, moose, osprey.) Both the Nikon and the Canon have EVF - I think the Nikon's is better, as is the LCD, if that's important to you.

Not sure of the specs of the new Canon, but currently, the SX50 supports RAW, the Nikon P600 does not. The Nikon shoots at 16 mg, the Canon at 12. Max shutter speed for the Canon is 1/2000 sec, the Nikon is 1/4000 sec.

I have a friend who uses the Nikon P600 for video - says it's the best he's ever used.

Both have fully articulated LCD screens, which is really important for shooting/viewing in bright sun. Took a class prior to an Alaskan cruise and it was suggested that we put our cameras on "sport" mode to help compensate for the bobbing of the ship.

Haven't played with filters on the SX50 - I've had it for 6 hours! Good luck. Let us know what you decide on and why!
