No didn't miss the flight, as standbys we only get a seat if a seat is available or the flight is not weight restricted. We did get out on the 5:40 pm Flight and that aircraft left with empty seats. All previous flights left full. One of the customer service agents did say that the flights opened up in the afternoon giving us a better chance of getting on a flight.

By the way a purchased ticket does not guarantee a seat on a particular flight. If the flight becomes weight restricted cargo flies pax do not.

All airlines have a contract of carriage that people don't read. My company requires all paying passengers to be in the boarding area 20 minutes before boarding and if not your seat is subject to be given to the next available pax or standby pax. There are two categories of standby Revenue and non-revenue pax. Revenue standbys are someone who missed their previous flight or they are standing by for an earlier flight. In any case non-revenue standbys are the last to get on an usually get the worst seats on the plane.

I know someone is going to ask who my company is; it is United Airlines and I work Maintenance out of San Francisco for the past 35 years.

Here are a few photos from my flight on July fourth through the Denver Airport. All photos were taken with my new iPhone 14 max pro.

The final three photos shows what the baggage area looked like when we arrived in SFO and this is only a portion of how the bags were stored. I did not take photos of all the areas.

Nice shots, I had made plans to attend that show this year with my grandkids. It took me over 24 hours to get out of San Francisco and then I got stuck in Omaha Nebraska, so we rented a car and drove to Tulsa Instead. I later Heard that they closed the gates on the first because they had reached max capacity. We decided not to try on Sunday, but did things with the grandkids in Tulsa and flew back to SFO on the fourth.

The Osprey is an interesting helicopter. I would like to pilot her but I still working on my single prop rating. At this rate, I’ll be 245 years old when I get that rating.

There are two things about people learning to pilot a plane.
You either have plenty of time to learn but no money to take lessons OR plenty of money to learn but no time to to take lessons.

I was in the first part and it still took me 30 tears to get my single engine license.

The president made a visit to California the week of June 19th. These photos were taken on the 20th with a iPhone 12 max pro. As can be seen I was able to get pretty close. With the Ospreys there were always two in the air in the vicinity of the airport providing security for airfare one along with a ground team that was providing preimeter security. Hope you enjoy. I meant to put these in the smart phone photography section but had a brain fart instead.

Bad refs. My grandson plays on a tournament team and got a ref that made some terrible calls. The parents didn't respond like this, but he had strikes called up at his chin and down by his shin. That's enough to make anybody mad.

That ref needs glasses or a reminder of where the strike zone is located.

My two oldest boys (I have 3 boys, commonly referred to as The Beach Boys) played from the time they were 6 until they were to old to play in the League which I think is about 16. They played in tournaments as well as their regular season games. I missed a lot of their games due to my work schedule. The umps were usually high school kids for the 8 to 12 year olds and for the 13 to 16 year olds it was a parent or college student. All was volunteers. I remember I was a home plate ump for one of the older kids game because the ump didn't show up for the game. Normally when I was there I was the score keeper for my sons team, it was difficult when both boys were playing at the same time. If at any time the parents got out of hand they were asked to leave the game, if it happened a second time they were banned for the remainder of the season.

The youngest of the two went on to ump games at the league and then he started to get call from various churches to ump there games for which he was paid $10.00 dollars a game. He eventually gave that up and became a assistant manager for carls jr which he work at from the time he was 17 until he gave it up at I think 27 years old at which time he started working in the oil fields in Oklahoma as a truck driver moving and setting up drill equipment at the drill sites, he was laid off from the oil field so he went to work for a firm hauling by products from the oil refineries to Kansas, Texas, La.,and within OK. When he is home he coaches his two oldest boys in football and little league in Fairfax Ok. His boys also do wrestling and the oldest one took state champion for his division and weight class. My 4 year old granddaughter wants to be a wrestler like her brothers. All my grandkids in OK are also avid hunters and fishermen/women

Both of my two oldest boys have been go getters. The oldest one is part owner of Goldbeach Logistics and him and his business partner is talking about creating a logistics company in OK to do business as Goldbeach Logistics. Then oldest one also drives for Uber and Lyft.

One of my brothers served on the last diesel subs out of Pearl Harbor in the Late 70's early 80's before they turned it into a training sub for a couple of years and then retired it in GA. It was the USS Barbel SS580.

Hack was also used to set watches for a specified time to begin a patrol, etc. This was done my the senior man an all others would set their watches to his. Example; it is now 2059 and thirty seconds, at 2100 he would say hack and everyone would ensure that their watch said 2100, etc. The time could be any time that was compatable to their mission.
