On the serious side, I have been on a couple of ambulance calls where there is a downed power line and despite repeated warnings not to, people want to get out of the vehicle. What happens next is not a pretty sight.

Goes along with, when putting gas in your vehicle don't get back in the car while it's filling. Static electricity can do funny things. A call we got on one lady who did this and her pantyhose caught fire, a quick thinking gent parked next to her grabbed the bucket of windshield cleaner and tossed it on her. Limited the burns to 1st degree.

Be safe out there.

Right you are. Let's keep the Main Photography Discussion section clear for hard hitting questions like "what lens should I use when I go to Paducah Kentucky?"

What if I leave Paduch KY and go down to Hazard Ky to take pictures of the coal mines?

I live about 40 miles from there. The eagle watching is better from the Illinois side just abroad the river. Be glad you are not there today. It's 5 below this am. Nice shots.

Thank you, we enjoyed ourselves, not only with the eagles but the history in the area.

We did spend some time on the Illinois side, around Warsaw and up through Nauvoo and up the river road north. Seems from day to day they moved either up or down the river. The best day was at Victory Park in Keokuk. They were teaching the young ones how to fish.

Want to go back in warmer weather, most of the time it wasn't bad except one day when it got down into the mid teens.

We got home Thursday from 4 days of eagle watching. Really something to stand in a living room window and watch them fly by.

These were below the dam. It seems that the adults were teaching the young how to fish. They would fly out over the river, swoop down and do a "touch and go" and return to a tree next to the parking lot that had about 8 eagles, some mature and some young.

When the young returned to the tree I noticed that they came back to the same adult they had been sitting next to. Sort of "How was that dad?"

On point #8, they would do that in the older obits, say prior to the 1940's, at least in the smaller town papers.

I really like this site. I have gotten some really good and usable advice. With that being said, it kind of bothers me when
someone asks for advice, and one of the hogs jumps all over them for not knowing how to use , or asking for advice with their equipment. I enjoy taking pictures , or photographs, I am not a pro by any means , as I have said before this is an amateur photographer site, even though some of you have the best pictures i have ever seen. Ii WOULD LIKE TO ASK JUST BE NICE TO THOSE OF US ASKING FOR ADVICE, I am still learning this wonderful hobby, I truly love this site, and check it everyday. Thank you.

I know what you mean, I dropped this site once just because I got tired of what was going one. It just seemed that there were a few that had to comment on everything. It got to where you had to skip a lot just to avoid reading what they would post.

If you said something was black, it would be no that's white, if you said up they would say down. I decided to return to see if anything has changed and for the most part there is. Still a couple that tend to lean that way but still better than it was.

I did one Black Friday sale....Home Depot for a table saw. In and out in under 20 minutes. While on the other side of the road Wally World reminded me of salmon heading upstream......

At least 80% of the investigations my team does will turn out to have a "natural" (non-ghost) reason for what is going on. As for the rest.............

We've got a ghost cat in the house. I'll feel a cat rub on my leg, reach down and there's no cat there. There are times when the other cats and the dog will stop and watch something walking through the living room or sit at the bottom of the stairs and look up at something that's not visible to us(it was his favorite place to lay).

Hard to tell from a fuzzy picture. Most likely a type of orb weaver, she will be gone (dead) when the cold hits.

I have noticed your post and we are live near by. I live in Greenfield now, formerly Frankfort. Clinton co. has a large round bank barn that I have photographed several times. There is one down here by Greenfield that I have not yet had a chance to shoot as of yet. I just move to this area recently. The old barns are hard to find. I several old barns on my backup disk archived. I need to bring them up to date. If you are interested about the one in Clinton Co. PM and I can give you directions. Happy shooting.

I never heard of a street address that UPS won't deliver to. Do you mind sharing the reason why UPS won't deliver to your street? Just wondering if it has been "mined".

I don't know why, but 90% of my packages end up at the Post Office. I get nothing that can't be left on the porch, they did leave them it in the past, this change seemed to have happened in the last couple of years. Then again, the last guy that drove this route was so good you could almost set your watch by him.

Same problem, my town does not have to your house delivery. UPS doesn't do much house drop off either (unless the package is heavy) most of my UPS orders end up at the Post Office.

Ever try to explain to somebody who wants your street address for mail that it doesn't work that way? Some places won't accept a PO Box and don't understand the problem.

I just give them this "street address/PO Box". The smaller delivery services will leave at the house, with Fed Ex it just depends.
