I just bought the T3I and if I read it right if you focus on an object with the shutter button and it starts to move the camera will go into continuous focus. Why is it better to program BBF?

Having asked this question I reread some of the posts and went to the Cannon Learning center and found out why. Is it really better and can someone give some examples. Thanks
