Funny you should mention that moose bit. While I was standing there waiting for the dawn---there WAS a very large bull elk who showed up about 6 feet behind me. He just lay down and hung out until dawn broke and I wanted to leave.

Ahhhhh! My favorite time of the day. A photo should stir the heartstrings of the view and yours most certainly does.

I also love capturing these moments and being from south Florida I don't get much chance. Where is this location and can you provide any technical data? Since joining this list I have seen few photos that inspire---this "Picture" has been the best of the bunch. Frame it and treasure the memories.

I hit the trail at 4:15 AM and walked up about 1.5 miles in the dark to get in position to see dawn's first light hit Hallet Peak above Dream Lake in Rocky Mountain National Park. Fortunately the wind died down just before the dawn, but unfortunately there were no clouds to add drama to the sky above the mountain. Sorry about that. . .

Nicely done with the head shots, but my favorite is the one with the fish held in his mouth. It says wild mink in a big photographic way.

More of the Cades Cove Bears. Mom had three cubs, and the logistics of keeping them all together made for some good laughs. Here one of the cubs is trying to catch up after he stopped to smell the flowers and mom didn't.

Nikon D300s 200-400 vr on tripod.
I'll post another one later.

how cute. How many pix had you actually taken of them?

By the time I left them (or maybe they left me) I had taken well over 200 photos. I got them doing all the bear stuff--wrestling climbing trees, nursing on mom, hiding in the grass, mom stalking--just about everything. They even took a nap for me.
I have real good range shooting my 200-400 VR lens with both the TC1.4 andTc1.7. I use a tripod with a Wimberly Sidekick on a ball head.

Photo look nice. Good job with the water, but I think you might straighten the photo just a tad.

Found this little guy and his mom in the Sparks Lane area of Great Smoky Mountain NP. Followed them for nearly 2 hours. This is one of my favorite shots!

Hope you enjoy it.

I'm Larry from south Florida. I shoot Nikon cameras and prefer to shoot wildlife and nature. Been involved in photography for more than 40 years. I let my photos speak for me, so here is a starter. This is a Florida burrowing owl, he is about 8 inches high. This is shot with a Nikon d3002, with a 200-400mm vr lens with a TC1.4 attached. Camera was mounted on a tripod with a wimberly sidekick mount. I used a Nikon SB 800 flash for fill set an -2 ev. I should have used a orange gel filter to blend the fill light to the natural orange of daybreak. ISO was 800, shutter 1/160 at F5.6

Hope you enjoy the photo.
