Thanks all, each step at the time seemed to be the ultimate, but maybe the Canon 5 II will be the last, but that is what I thought about the Nikormat with its ability to read a light level of a room from outside.... we shall see..

guess an eagle floats, whether conscious or not, so the mess to his feathers seems to have been caused by his fighting to get airborne from the water, he may have been out fer a bit.... a following shot taken 30 minutes later shows him looking OK and dried out. I wish I could get OK to send the rest of the shots, but they are not mine, they show lone eagle attacking duck, duck diving, another eagle joins party, both eagles fight and a head on collision between the eagles, this eagle fighting to get airborne from the water after dropping about 20 feet into it (like a stone), and finally the lone eagle looking ok in the tree...

shot sent to me by friend, along with 9 others, I sent him request to forward entire email to this topic, but haven't heard back from him yet. this eagle along with another were fighting over a duck before they had a head on , high speed, collision causing this guy to fall semi-conscious into the water, he went semi-under. The duck would "duck" (dive) under each time one of the eagles attacked, and did survive.

had problem with canon lens, they repaired it, got it back, shook it and a screw was rattling around inside. back to canon, fixed it, no charge... moral: if you are gonna spend coupla hundred bux for a lens, spring for the real one... if money is a big problem, go for second hand from any of the big houses...

may years ago I had Nikon, and could not seem to keep it out of the shop. Switched to Canon and have been there ever since... nikormat, then T70, if it wasn't for digital, I would still be using the T70.

my son worked for ibm in the early 90's (Poughkeepsie) on the "next" mainframe computer. seems like they did a market survey, no market, and just shut the entire operation down ,bang!

OK...but I don't believe the first windows was anything but a dos manipulator and we can argue about how much of either pc or ms dos was CP/M.. EdM

lots of talk about ibm and the pc, but people seem to forget cp/m and the z80(control program for microprocessors) which ibm and later Microsoft used as their model for pc dos. in fact the first Microsoft windows ('93)was not even an operating system, but a dos "handler" , and about 90% cpm.

Probably accurate, but the biggest snafu goes to the Xerox board of directors who's engineers did the basic development of the internet, tried to sell it to their board, and escentially were told to stop wasting their time and get back to work.. This in the '70's time frame so I am told... They were even way way ahead of our xVP. GBG

well, informative anyway. I save all raw as one used to save negatives. I also save/view/delete the camera generated jpegs. As I originally stated, memory and "unbutton" speed is no longer a factor, so the real need for a jpeg over a tiff or whatever probably no longer really exists, but,... whatever. Elsie Kay

The days memory problems are long over. Canon permits you to record both raw and jpeg on the camera with the same filenames when the photo is taken. Batch rename later and store the raw photos elsewhere, use the jpegs and you will know if you re-save to jpegs too often, you can always go back to square one from the raw and start over.. Ed
