Screw the sling attachment point to the lens foot and the other end to the camera this is what I have done for over 5 years and never had an issue

Thanks for your input!

I too use this method for carrying my D500 when carrying the Sigma 150-600 Contemporary attached.

Thanks for your input - appreciate it

I have the same lens but that does not matter. Do not attach any strap to the tripod socket. Full stop. It is not made for that and is not designed to withstand any misuse. Use the lugs on the body. They are an integral part of the internal frame and are designed to withstand much greater forces.

Thanks for responding !

Thanks that does make sense unfortunately I have reached the age and being afflicted with arthritis where I need to carry less rather than more. Thanks for responding👍

A single attachment to the tripod foot is the safest for a LARGE lens with a strap. As for me, I do not use straps except as an insurance tether. I mostly hand carry for shorter excursions and for longer ones I prefer to have a LARGE softcase strapped to my torso and carry the lens/camera with the lens first in the softcase and the camera sticking out - nothing swinging around and ready for action !

The lens should have come with a collar where you can attach your strap to. Attach the strap to the lens, not the camera. Also, if you use a tripod you would do well to attach it to the lens also.

Makes sense will give it a try thanks for responding!

I’ve owned a Sigma 150-600 Contemporary that I mount to a Canon 7d Mk 2 or 5d Mk 4 for 4 years. For walk about sessions, I simply attach a sling strap to the lens tripod mount. I no longer own the 7d2 but still carry the lens the same way with my Canon R5 as well as the 5d2. To my knowledge, I’ve never had an issue. The lens carries the body.

Thank you for responding I will try that out as well as whatever advise is offered 👍

I recently acquired a used 150- 600mm C Lens. I have also gone and bought a new strap which come with an accessory that screws into the underside of the camera - which serves as a connection for one end of the strap whilst the other connects to the side of the camera. I wear the strap and camera across one shoulder or the other. My question is this sufficient support for the Sigma lens attached to my D7200. One hears of warping to the mount- thus resulting in problems with focus Etc! and poor captures. Please advise!
