I was reading a story about Ivan Makarov, a professional and he says "I shoot the most with 85mm f/1.4. It's super sharp lens"
what does this mean, a super sharp?
what does the G and the D mean at the end of a lens description?
im also guessing that a lens that has in its description, f/1.4D or a F/2.8G is a better lens than one having 4.5-5.6 G.
and lastly I was looking at trading in my Nikkor ED 80-400mm
f 4.5-5.6 lens (which I very seldom use) for a AF-S DX NIKKOR
18-300mm f/3.5-5.6G ED VR...
do you think this is a good or bad idea?

I either end up with dark pictures or blurry pictures... I know I should have a tripod...and leave shutter open longer ...will this do it?

I have been interesting in photograpy for over 50 years. owned multiple cameras in the past. From a brownie to a polaroid to a D80 to my newest addition, Nikon D600. This Nikon is awesome and has the capacity to do more things than I even know about right now.
Glad I stumbled onto this site as there are days and days of reading and learning....a person never stops learning new stuff.....
