Very good Keni, on the download it looks like a painting...

Thanks Val. I didn't apply any filters or special effects to get that look. Just trying to get the best from a very underexposed shot.

I took this at our annual family fall hayride and music jam. My father has a stage set up in the barn that is not very well lit with yellow industrial lighting in the ceiling. My daughter and nephew were onstage playing and singing when my grand niece decided to join them in her Halloween costume and toy guitar. She put on quite a show. I didn't have time to switch over to a faster lens so I knew it was going to be a difficult shot with the bad lighting, hand held, and her moving around on the stage. All in all I was very happy with how it turned out after a run through ACR and Photoshop. I loved how the light turned out. There is a warmth to it. If I could figure out how to recreate this lighting in studio it would be amazing.

A lot of what you need for a home studio depends on what you will be shooting. Are you doing portraits, headshots, still life, commercial products, macro, etc? Do you have good natural light? Do you prefer to work with speedlights or constant lighting? Do you have a dedicated space or will you be setting it up as needed? There are also hundreds of budget priced equipment and gadgets out there. How do you know what is really useful or just a cool toy you didn't need to spend your money on?

I came across this YouTube video for a very basic and portable portrait studio when I was researching the same question. This set up could work as a start up for other types of photography as well.

There are lots of other videos out there on studio setups. I would suggest looking up those videos for the areas of photography you are interested in then buy the best equipment you can afford. If you are constantly setting up and taking down your equipment the cheap stuff is not going to last very long but if you plan to leave it set up with less wear and tear then something less expensive could be the thing. Good luck! I love having my own little home studio ready to go whenever I am.

OK I will make an offer. $25 for the EF 24-70 plus shipping. I am assuming since there is no minimum price posted that if it is the only offer then it is your best offer. PM me for payment info.

Interesting choice of colors. To borrow a word from Linda, it's very striking. Cool!!!

While the first one is nice I very much like your second edit. It adds more drama and impact and you did a good job with processing. Thanks for sharing.

My wife and I flew to Pennsylvania last week for a wedding. Fall is beautiful in that area and I was looking forward to getting lots of color shots this trip. Unfortunately on our first day there shortly after I took this photo my wife fell and as we found out later, broke her knee. Flying home was not fun but she is recovering and I did get a few nice photos.

It was a rainy, foggy and overcast morning so I replaced the background in PS then took it to Topaz Studio for a little impressionistic touch and to help enhance the glow. I like the soft look.
