No, I'm not Jerry, but here is possible scenario.

Without propulsion and steering, a maneuver the crew is probably trained to use is drop anchors in an attempt to slow the vessel. That does not provide controllable steering, and it is a very inefficient braking system, but it's pretty much the only onboard option remaining.
Downside of that is, the anchors are at the bow, not the stern. So if they drag hard enough or catch on the bottom, the momentum will cause the stern to swing out in some direction to pass the bow which is being restrained, at some degree of inefficiency, by an anchor or anchors, effectively altering the direction of the vessel's course fairly quickly. Kinda like a staked-out running animal hitting the end of its chain.........only on a massively larger scale of energy at work.

The rate of that bridge dropping is more a result of support of its continuous truss being removed, and the expected progressive failure, as it is not capable of self-sustaining support without its engineered ground support.
If it was all ship speed and momentum from beginning to end of collapse, it would be expected that highway bridge would have been forced, dragged, carried, propelled, something, many many yards downstream by high speed impact, rather than doing the nearly vertical drop as the ship ended its low speed movement.

In today's mail, I had a letter from the government... Department of Health and Human Services, Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. The letter began with: "You now have a new Medicare Number and your previous Medicare Number is no longer valid. Your new Medicare card is inside." It further informs me that the new card/number is effective April 2 and that I should inform my providers of the change.

I have no idea why they would replace my Medicare card and assign me a new/different number.

Has this happened to any of you UHHers?

My guess is that part of the new number is a flag to doctors and hospitals that... this old guy has cost us enough money... treat him accordingly... been nice communicating with you UHHers.

There are still some free disk utilities available, and I've been using several as I look through my HDDs. One thing I have to remember is to click on the "Commit," "Proceed," or "Begin" button after I make a choice. I'm used to clicking on what I want to do, and program runs. I began doing a Surface Test with Macrorit Partition Expert, and it wasn't going very fast. Looking at the top of the screen, I saw that it would take five days and eighteen hours to complete. 🤣 No thanks!

In addition to Macrorit, I've been using AOMI Partition Assistant and MiniTool Partition Wizard. One program is not enough because some do certain tasks better than others, and some don't so certain tasks at all. I think it was AOMI that kept asking me to upgrade when I clicked on certain features. If the features aren't available, they shouldn't be listed.

The disk I'm working on now is an HGST, 4TB. The computer says it's 16TB, and I'm having trouble making it usable. Right now, I'm doing a deep format. It shows up in utility programs, but the computer doesn't see it.

The system should work better. This is like writing on wax paper with Chapstick.

If you have an old clothes dryer that is not working as well as it should, buy a new one. I replaced mine a few weeks ago because it wasn't working. Today, I took the old one apart in anticipation of bringing the metal to "dump" for recycling. Every time I removed a part, I found lots of lint. The large outlet where the hot air exits the tub was loaded with lint. From there, it goes into a downpipe and then to the vent hose. At the bottom of the downpipe was a mouse nest, in addition to lint. When I got all the way inside the machine - lint! It's all over the motor, too. I guess "out of sight, out of mind" applied to this motor because it is naked. It does not have the typical barrel cover over it. I thought I might keep it, but after seeing it, it will go to the metal recycling area. The vent hose itself, from the dryer to the outside, was very clean. This was a Whirlpool from 2007.

On the plus side, I did "rescue" a lot of wire and connectors. I can always use wire. Oh, one other thing: I removed over $5.00 in coins from inside the dryer cabinet.

Ulster County, NY would like to remove the medical requirement for the county Health Commissioner to be a doctor. I'm not sure what the commissioner does, but since he/she makes decisions about health, it seems that being a doctor would give that person the knowledge required to make health decisions. NYS does not require commissioners to be doctors, and the County is thinking about blending in with that. Of course, there is always the "Magic Eight Ball."

Kinda funny - If the County does make that change, it would have to hire a doctor to oversee decisions. 🤣
