Since you brought this up about unexploded bombs I was wondering when whoever drops a bomb that doesn't explode are they able to go back to the manufacturer of said bomb and get a refund for that bomb? Do bombs come with warranties?

Only if the bomber wins the war!

Would it then be acceptable to sign a photograph, "1 of 1" meaning that there is only ONE print?

I agree tatts are pretty permanent.

Wife's uncle, age 80s, has a tat that is now as saggy and baggy as his arm, after 60-odd years! It might have looked good at 20, when he was in the Navy...
He advised her NEVER to get one!

It is a big mistake to reject Digital Post Processing because of the hideously over processed examples you've seen. It would be the same logic as rejecting women's make up because you saw a picture of Tammy Faye Baker.

I LOVE your analogy! I have very little experience with any sort of post-processing, and am seeking to learn more! I've always been of the opinion that generally speaking, the less post-processing, the better. If the subject is well-photographed, but is a little too dark or light, or the colours are a bit off, then by all means touch up to get as close as you can to the original! Making the important colours "pop" can change a "ho-hum" picture into a great photograph! Until I learn to do that correctly, I'll stay with UNprocessed photos! Of course, I'm not trying to sell my photos, just preserve a "slice of my life"!

Thank you, again!

I wouldn't know where the rant belongs, being a newbie here, myself! I'm not a professional photographer, but do try to capture my travels around the country, and have recently moved up from a K1000 (actually three of them) to a DSLR. I do minimal processing, trying to capture in the image, what I want. I guess that's a hold-over from using film! I'd rather learn the essentials of PHOTOGRAPHY, rather than learn to manipulate images in PS! I really don't like those "over-processed" pictures! I'm also a musician, playing organ accompaniment for silent films. I'm learning MIDI, but feel the same way about over-processed music as I do about over-processed photographs! A caveat for the movie organist is that he should ENHANCE, but never ECLIPSE the picture! I'm sure there's a similar warning for photographers.

I was gifted a Canon 5320, which is also one capable of printing CD/DVD. Recently (within the last year) my local K-Mart has started carrying cartridge refills a a fraction of the price of Canon. I've been using these, and while they don't seem to last any longer, at least they don't cost me an arm and a leg! For plain B&W printing, I use a Brother Laser printer. Only use the Canon for colour.

Try a "strap-wrench", such as is used on oil filters. Would grip the ball without marring it, giving you greater leverage. I'm assuming that there is some sort of stud into which the ball-head would screw.

That is exactly why I found a "new-to-me" Pentax k10D when I upgraded from three K1000s! I've got several lenses, including one 1000mm that would be prohibitive to replace for a different camera, especially on my retiree pension!

This might help in the unfortunate event that some bit of "electronica" gets wet: I place the object (usually my cell phone) in a food dehydrator, which has a low temperature heating element (adjustable, c. 100 F) and a circulating fan. Meant for dehydrating veggies or making jerky, it's a perfect tool for drying water out out of small places, and has saved my 'phone several times, already!

I've found much the same, here. I use a K10D (entry-level DSLR) because I recently upgraded from three K-1000s, (entry-level SLR). I wanted to stay with Pentax because I wished to use the same lenses, and they all fit either camera. Don't mind the manual setup. I've got one auto lens, which came with the body (used). Haven't learned a great deal about it, yet, but will in time! Good to find other Pentax folks here!

Hello! I cannot answer this question, as I'm an extreme newbie. I'm pleased to find a Pentax question, because I'm only using a Pentax K10D (entry-level DSLR) because I had been using 3 K1000 35mm entry-level cameras, and I had many lenses that I still wished to use, and I can, on the K10D. I've been "looking and learning" for a month or so, and have seen that most folks here use much more expensive cameras that are out of my reach, so nice to see information about the lower end! So much to learn! So little time!
