That doesn't mean they don't exist.
Oh yes, they do exist and your previous post with the photo of all three sizes was excellent. The point is that "mini" and "micro" SD cards are not the same thing, and I get the sense from other posts that many people are no longer aware of the difference. The other point is, even if you actually find one in the flesh so to speak, which you probably won't, the "mini" form factor cards are long past being desirable.

I am using an iMac with 32 Gig. ram, & Intel I-7. I would like to know if switching to a Sony camera with 42 MG would require more computer capacity. I don’t want to have to rebuild my computer if I switch to the Sony. I have access to the Cloud and an external hard drive for storage.

I’m not up to speed on computers.

Thanks....

You will be fine. Some day all your photos will fill up your external disk drive, and you will want to buy a bigger one. With a 42 mega pixel camera, that will happen sooner than if you use a 24 mega pixel camera (by about a 42/24 ratio). But, external disk drives keep getting less expensive and larger capacity all the time. So, the longer you put off that external drive purchase, the better deal you are likely to get.

I, also, don't know ChrisT from a hole-in-the-wall, but he does occasionally ask some very thought-provoking and philosophical questions. Mostly however they are amusing and entertaining. I have even had him dispute my statements, but, y'know, I don't think I would "ignore" him, just use the proverbial "grain of salt", enjoy his posts, and - I hope - learn something new following the threads he starts.

I agree. Given that Chris T hasn't posted on this thread, it sort of feels like (trash) talking about him behind his back. Even if he is obnoxious, that's not right. I can't remember what the topic was, but I got into it with Chris T once and had him agree with me on some minor point before it was all over. So now I'm conflicted, either he's not that bad, or I should block myself.

Funny you should ask that because my A6000 has occasionally been in bracketing mode for no apparent reason.

That's never happened to my a6000 yet, but I believe you. If you push left on the multi-selector dial, doesn't that go directly to the drive mode menu? I mention that because the buttons on Sony's are small and close together, and I have accidently hit the movie button on my similar NEX-5n quite a few times.

It may or may NOT be called microSD as microSD and miniSD are two different form factors. Both have adapters for standard (ful size) SD slots. microSD and standard SD cards are the most common, but there are also MiniSD cards.

As to the question of using "sub sized" SD cards in their adapters: I never had any issues using them.

Performance is based on the class rating not the physical size of the card. Small physical size is useful in phones, However some compact P&S cameras use microSD without adapters (I have a Samsung P&S that does). No performance issues with it. I have recorded HD video with it.

The other thing about mini-SD cards is that I haven't seen one in about ten years. I own a couple of micro-SD card to mini-SD card adapters because they were included in the package with a micro-SD card along with a micro-SD card to SD-card adapter (that I have used quite often, they work just fine). Mini-SD cards are about twice the size of micro-SD cards, and SD-cards are larger again. If you do spot an actual mini-SD-card, you will no doubt find that it is 1. old, 2. slow, and 3. small capacity like 2Gb or less.

Number 4 is a replica of the shot that eventually resulted in the birth of the motion picture industry.

Never heard it expressed that way, but photograhy did settle the argument of whether or not all four of a galloping horse's feet left the ground at the same time. And #4 is a great shot.

Thanks for correcting me.

I would thank you to stop posting this nonsense. There's a good chance some weak minded person will believe some of it. You will ruin your reputation among reasonable people by getting caught up in this cockamamie belief. Actually I'm a bit ashamed that you caught me in a grouchy and quarrelsome mood, and that I responded to this at all.

That's the second deer photo on UHH this week with a tongue sticking out. Is that because you're holding a camera and not a Winchester, or what? Perhaps I'm overreacting to photographers being mocked by deer, and it doesn't mean anything. Anyway, nice photo, I'm now inspired to go scout up some mule deer (no whitetails in Colorado I believe) and try for a similar photo.

I've read that menu items display really really small and require some finessing and computer savvy to resolve this. I think it might be because current software is not quite ready for 4K. Perhaps others can share their actual experiences.

Windows 10 is ready for 4K. I plugged in my new LG 32-inch 4K monitor, and it just works. Windows recognized the monitor right away, and automatically set the text size at 150% which fixes the small menu issue. I used to have two 1920x1200 monitors so everything displayed about the same regardless of which monitor it was on. Now I have a 1920x1200 screen and a 4k screen. Windows left the text size at 100% on the 1920x1200 screen and set the text size for the 4k screen at 150% as already mentioned so everything is still displayed at a good size regardless of which screen is used. Earlier versions of Windows might not set the text size automatically, but it's a simple matter to find the Windows Settings menu, open the Display Settings, and set the text size for each monitor manually. That's a simple enough adjustment that doesn't require any computer savvy more than changing your desktop background picture.

This is not a new, or unusual, or difficult issue. Windows has needed to accommodate better, higher resolution displays roughly every other year since it was invented and installing a new display is pretty easy lately.

I would say if your computer is more than perhaps 4 years old you should check the specs on your computer's video hardware to ensure it has 4K capability, but even very cheap video cards now have that. Maybe it requires some computer savvy to find that information if you don't have all the documentation for your hardware close by.

Anyway, I'm very happy with the new monitor, and it was easy to install.

Why not give them a call - I’ve always found them to be knowledgable and responsive in real-time.

That's exactly what I was thinking whilst reading through all these comments. I don't remember ever writing to USAA for anything for over 30 years. Just phone them, and have your policy in hand or be logged onto their website, and they'll show you where your homeowners policy excludes jewelry & other high price items, or not. I have a VPP and the USAA rep talked me through the whole setup process in one phone call.

Over the years, I've seen ads for photo courses and pro photographers offering their services. They all seem to have a common thread: "Award Winning Photographer!". Of course, it seems to me the courses are wildly overpriced and the pro photographers are teenagers with iPhones. So far I've resisted the temptation to add "Award Winning" to my website, even though I've picked-up a few ribbons in serious competitions and drawers full of certificates from club contests.
With that as prelude, my question for the erudite hogs here assembled is: When can one, without fear of contradiction, claim to be an "Award Winning Photographer"?
Over the years, I've seen ads for photo courses an... (show quote)

1. You are way to hard on yourself, also overthinking.
2. You've won a few awards so that should be on your website if you want other people to know that somebody liked your work. It's not the same as introducing yourself to everyone you encounter saying, "Hi, I'm the best award winning photographer that you'll ever meet." If they were small awards, use a small font.
3. You can never do anything on UHH without fear of being contradicted. But how many UHH'ers who are currently writing you checks will stop doing that if you add "award winning" to your website.
Personally, I like to deal with people who are proud of their work.
