I'm sure there's a solution to this problem and that people on here have the answer. When I'm outside taking landscape pictures with my Rebel T7, I can't see what the picture I've just taken looks like on the screen because in the sunlight the screen is rather dark. In order to see the picture I've just taken clearly I have to go back to my car, get inside, close the door and then look at the picture. What's the solution?

Indeed this is an issue. Here are they ways that I have tried. None are great solutions but they help.

1. Use the view camera method. Place a black cloth over your head to review an compose your image. A cloth with one white side an one black side is great to minimize the heat.
2. There are shields that fit over some screens.
3. Use a field monitor. Many have a shield and some expensive ones are quite bright. These have their own batteries.
I lose the camera touch screen focus this way however.

Internet Storage - Very slow

External drive - much faster to restore. SSD will the fastest but less reliable for long term storage than HD.

I sent in my Z8. Wrapped it in towel. Put it in a plastic bag with the packing slip. Then put it in a box and attached the shipping label. Hope Nikon accepts it, but, I wasn’t going to ship my $4000 camera in a plastic bag. Have you ever seen the way packages are handled by UPS and other shippers, especially if they are marked FRAGILE. I just couldn’t do it.

A plastic bag will protect your camera from friction scratches. A box and bubble wrap are also necessary.

Strange...2 days ago I went through the same exercise with Apple. I use iTunes on my PC and wanted to download some album art from the iTunes store (which are free.) They require you to use an apple device to log on. They let you do it with a friends or from one of their stores.

I now have one more reason to never have an Apple product.

Use money orders. Pay online. Use a debit card or a credit card at the counter. Pay by cash at the counter.

Note that some (if not all) credit card companies employ a fraud department that investigates suspicious transactions and other questionable transactions. The card companies can reverse faulty or wrong charges to a card account.

Moreover, these companies can credit an account with the amount in question while the investigation proceeds.

1. Money Orders are expensive and difficult to refund if something goes wrong. in general a PIA.
2. Never use a debit card. This is the easiest way to lose money. Credit Cards are fine.
3. You can't pay your credit card bill with another credit card or debit card.
4. Cash is fine for small non-returnable items but checks provide a record. If the amount is large your cash can be seized by the government and you don't get it back even if you commit no crime.

The USPS is recommending that we do not send checks through the mail. "...305 mail carriers robbed in the first half of fiscal year 2023..." This must have been a tough decision because that will eliminate a huge volume of mail - and revenue. Theft of checks has doubled over last year. They also recommend mailing checks from inside the PO, rather than in a convenient sidewalk box, is you must use them.

As you probably know, criminals can "clean" checks and re-write them. You'd think there would be a technological way to prevent that. The check paper was supposedly developed for security. It should be possible to develop an ink that can't be removed from the check.

The only checks I write now are for taxes, dog license, and the town dump.

If one uses a Uniball 207 pen to write checks then the checks cannot be cleaned. The pens are cheap.
Secure Checks can also be used but they are not so cheap. They can be purchased from the following site.

I use checks routinely to pay bills and contractors who work on the house. Checks provide a clear record of a transaction.

I'm doing a presentation for junior high children on Composition, and want to start with the question, " what the difference between a picture vs a photograph?" My answer is a picture is a memory you take for memories sake, a photograph is a memory you take after planning it out and carefully choosing how, when , why , where and who.
I know you hogs probably can give me a better description and that sometimes a picture becomes a lucky photograph. Any positive help would be appreciated.
Thanks.

A picture can be a drawing, a painting or a photograph. Each media can be casually done (and some become great pieces art) or more seriously done. Perhaps the photographs of Vivian Maier were casual.

I have several shots of this scene and I have one that I really like in color and landscape orientation. What I can't decide is if this works in black and white. I will look at it one time and think yes and again and think know. Please let me know what you think. And, if you are feeling real generous with your comments you can share with me why you think whatever you do about the photo.
TIA

This is a fine black and white photo. Don't pat attention to those %3@## who can only look at color photos.

1. Follow Burkphoto's advice.

2. Is the cable that you purchased compatible with your camera and flash. I know that Nikon has changed their "standard" a few times in the past.

3. Does the cable work on manual flash? This should only require the basic pins on the flash shoe.

If one is shooting a landscape on a tripod is possible to make just one shot . When there is quick action (e.g. birds in flight, sports etc.) enough is uncertain that taking a few or many shots to get the right moment is necessary. My macro shots usually taken on a tripod but under natural light require a few shots due to subject motion (wind). Lighting will also change due to the motion of clouds. When photographing a group of people more than one shot is necessary as peoples expressions are constantly change and there can be "bad" moments. There are other scenarios as well.

A Paul said earlier. Pros show only their best.

This a very nice travel tripod is light weight and packable and sturdy. These come in aluminum and carbon fiber. There is little weight difference and the Aluminum one is much cheaper. The blue one in on sale at B&H for $90 until tomorrow. This tripod can be converted to a monopod.

I have two for my Olympus Cameras and they are very good.

The Common Waxbill yes is originally from Africa, BUT was first reported in Hawai'i in the late 1970's. This was taken in Kona HI, and they probably had hitch a ride on a freighter ship, and disembarked like the tourist do.

These birds are common aviary birds. I would not be surprised that many escaped and survived in tropical and sub-tropical areas but of course not MT.

The following places are good places to sell a lens. KEH, MPB, B&H Photo and here on UHH. Stay away from Craig's list as this is where the scammers hang out.
