Thanks to all of you Hoggers that shared your input on my previous topic titled Z6.
I guess I may be owed some lashes but forgive me if you can or use something on the soft side. I decided after all the hoopla to buy a used D850, a USA model with low shutter count at what I think is a reasonable price. Given my activity over the last six years, as far as photography, this camera should last me the rest of my photography days given no catastrophic accidents or unforseen events, sudden GAS attacks and the like.
Maybe a mirrorless is still in my future but for the time being I will keep a bottle of Tums on hand.
I really don't cherish wasting other people's time so to those of you I owe a thanks to, thank you.

Nikon is running a sale on refurbished cameras and lenses. I highly recommend refurbished Nikons. I believe the Z5 is $1000. All the gear I bought as refurbs couldn’t be distinguished from new.

Good luck!

My current camera is a refurbished I got from Cameta.

I have the D7100 and the D7500. I was thinking of the Z5, or changing to a used Sony A7iii.
I know that Sony is a better camera, but I do like Nikon. I am just trying to talk myself into a full frame adventure. I still haven't talked myself into it, but I am working on it.

A Sony still isn't out of the question for me.

I was just lucky last year on the sale of some property and upgraded every thing except my printer. This is rare for me and considering my age, may be my last purchase of better cameras. Let me make some suggestions. I owned the original Nikon Z6 and liked it but never understood why it wasn’t designed for two memory cards. I traded it to B&H for the 7ii. The colors will just blow you away they are so good. It has two slots for memory cards and instead of taking the lesser CF Express A cards that Sony chose, Nikon opted for the Type B memory cards that are faster. Sony makes both. But, I also have the Z9. It is a seriously professional camera that is heavier and obviously not for everyone. However, I do video that I plan on selling and continuing to use for the same in the future. I love this camera. The weight doesn’t bother me and it is just feels far better made than any camera on the market. For what I do it was perfect. If not for the professional video, I would go with the Z7ii in a second. Here’s the kicker. Because I’m such a fanatic about quality, I purchased a Fuji GFX 100s and it blows everything on the market away for still life’s and landscapes. You have to see the difference in resolution between it and a full frame to appreciate the quality of a medium format. This is also a commercial camera and I will not buy the next best thing. My wife loves the Zii and I’m thrilled with the Z9 and GFX for the purpose they were purchased. Considering that you want an upgrade but am not a professional, I would choose the 7ii. You will not be disappointed. It is a beautiful camera that never ceases to amaze me with its quality build and fantastic photos.

Thank you. I am leaning toward the Z 7ll. I belive the Z 9 would be overkill for me.

I've had my Z6 for three years and am quite happy with it. Started out using the FTZ adapter with my f mount full frame lenses and slowly migrated to all native Z lenses except for a Tamron hold-out. Right now I'm planning to upgrade to the Z6iii if and when it ever makes an appearance. The Z9, although an outstanding camera, is totally a professional piece of equipment and way more than I need or want.

Thank you for your input.

I didn't realize the Z 6 only has one card slot. I do like to shoot in raw and jpeg so the 6ll or 7ll will most likely be my choice. I have very little concern with video really and I am doubtful my feelings about that are going to change. Thanks for your input.

You have crop lenses.
I wonder why no consideration of the Z50?
It matches the D7200 you have only in mirrorless.
Your current lenses will use the full sensor and you will lose a lot of reach that you are used to with your 150-600mm.
To get the same reach you will have to crop and get far less IQ with the Z6.
I would go the z50 hands down, no brainer.

I like to shoot in raw and jpeg and would prefer two card slots.

Sadly, Cameta is no longer in business. They were a great source for Nikon Refurbs especially since they offered a 1 year warranty as opposed to Nikon's 90 day.

I'm still a big fan of buying refurb Nikons though!

My experience with buying refurbed, what little I have, has been excellent.

Yes. I understand that. I would probably order the 24-120 and the body. That is my thinking at the moment.

You may want to consider the Z 6II instead of the Z 6.
I have the Z 6II, it’s a fine camera and much improved over the Z 6. The Z 7II is pretty much the same camera as the Z 6II but with a higher resolution sensor.
I don’t know much about the Z 9 other than it is expensive. The Z 6II meets all my needs and I am happy with it.

I am leaning toward the Z 7ll for the megapixle count but that may force me to upgrade my computer too due to file size. I kinda need to do that anyway so it's not a deal breaker.

When I went mirrorless, I started with a Z6 and a Z7.
I now own both Z9 and kept a Z6, which I use mostly for astrophotography or low light indoors. I tested the Z6Ii directly against the Z6 and despite other claims here, other than a few clicks faster FPS, could not discern enough difference to upgrade. I’m waiting on the Z6IIi to see if I want to upgrade.

The Z9 took me to places I’ve never been with the ease of shooting action. And it has been fun to learn new techniques and an almost entirely new mindset about autofocus. I shoot mostly sports and BIF. I now use my Z9 for just about everything, including Astro. The only drawback is size and weight. The Z9 is mostly a budget decision.

I see you have a 150-600, so you are obviously shooting some wildlife or action sport. I left a D7200 behind for the D500 as my interest in action grew.
You will be fine with a refurbed Z6 II or Z7II. Both will be a tremendous upgrade. Get a 24-120 f4 lens rather than 24-70 and use the FTZII for the Tamron and you will be covered thru 24-600. Depending on your budget, you might find a 100-400 with a TC to be a more than adequate replacement for the Tamaron and save weight. I also use a 500 PF but Native Z lenses are remarkable performers on Z cameras.

Good luck! Oh, and you might try renting first to explore your options. It turned me away from a Sony A1, just because of the feel and menu system.

That is kinda my thought too on the lens. I have the 18-140 and the 150-600 now. I will probably go ahead and order the 24-120 along with the body.

Whatever your decision on the camera, make sure to check out Steve Perry's excellent book "Secrets To The Nikon Autofocus System: Mirrorless Edition". The autofocus is VERY different on the Nikon mirrorless camera, and I've found this book to be a great guide.

Thank you.
