Stupid question.
I have set up my Canon 350D on a tripod and taken the attached photo. I set the camera on timer so that I would not move the camer by pressing the shutter release.
The camera settings were:
ISO 200
speed 1/6 sec
fstop 5
zoom 37mm
awb auto

The lens is the kit lens that came with the camera "Canon Zoom Lens EF-S 18-55mm 1:3.5-5.6 II"
I set the central single point focus and aimed at the center stamen(?)

The thing is it doesn't look sharp to me and I don't know if it is my computer or the camera or my eyes.
I would appreciate the feed back.

Hi,
Thanks for the advice but please clarify.
RWilson: The shot was taken with the widest aperture on the lens - when this is the case how can I decrease the depth of field (other than buy a better lens) ?
Silverman: are you suggesting that the rear dead flower be more in focus or less in focus?

I am new to the forum and fairly new to the hobby.
Took this yesterday and am pretty pleased with it. But I know things can always get better.
I welcome any constructive criticism.

Just the two kit lenses that came with the camera.
I don't know if all of the problems that I am experiencing with the 350D are just due to the camera or the lenses as well.
For example not all of the focus points work in the lenses.

Therefore I am not too concerned about using the existing equipment as a criteria for the new camera.

Hi all,
This is my first post.

I have a Canon 350D (ten years old) that is failing and needs to be replaced.
I am a casual photographer but do enjoy the hobby. I just had a wonderful vacation but was totally frustrated because I had to use my phone instead of a real camera (I don't know how anybody can take these phone cameras seriously).

So my budget is under $1000 and I am looking at the Canon 750D. I liked the 350 so I figured that it would be a smooth move but then a friend showed me his Lumix micro four thirds and I must say I am impressed. The features of the camera (inbuilt stabilization etc) and the weight and size of the unit are quite something.

The question is what is the consensus of the Micro Four Thirds compared to the 'non' full framed 750D?
What are your opinions on the GX85?
What would you choose?

Thanks for listening
