I want to make sure I avoid that one.

I just did a search for this lens. It appears that it is no longer made. B&H has a use one for $60., so they are not worth a whole lot. Since I don't really need this lens right now, I probably won't spend to get it fixed.

Hi Don. Welcome to the Hogg. I see you are in Illinois. I'd call Sigma Lens Support first(800)896-6858. They have a local service center on the north side of Chicago in Elk Grove Village(out by O'Hare Airport) called Bigston Corp. They do the service work for many major electronic companies including Sigma, Canon and Epson. They updated the firmware on my Sigma 150-500mm lens a couple years ago. Bigston's # is (847)439-3500. Good people to deal with.
Good Luck.

Thanks for that info, DonB. I'll get in contact with those people. The lens is old enough that I doubt that it is still covered by the warranty and I really have doubts that it is worth the cost of repair -- if it can be repaired.

I have a Sigma 75-300 mm zoom lens. I put it into a new camera bag and it got ruined. I think that some of the material in the bag out-gassed and partially dissolved the plastic of the lens barrel. Anyway, what should be hard plastic is kinda sticky and the lens is stuck so that you can’t zoom it. Right now it is just a 75 mm lens.

My questions:

Can this be fixed?

If so, would it be worth the cost?

If so, where would be a good place to have it done?

I would appreciate any suggestions.
