The Fire Island lighthouse is also a beauty and, having spent many happy summers there, a personal favorite.

IMO, the best beach in the country (Field 5, Robert Moses) is right in front of this Fire Island (Long Island) lighthouse.

Very nice photo! I hope you don't mind if I post this photo I took from my plane back in 1987. Not sharp because I had to shoot through a curved plexiglass window, and this is a copy of the photo I just took with my phone.

Nice!

This is a beautiful capture of Montauk Light. I don't think anything would be lost from straightening the lighthouse a tad.

Thanks!

Very nice!! I like your use of foreground elements. This makes it a totally different view from any of the others I've seen.

Could you give me a heads up on a place to stay? I have three mini-trips I would like to take this summer, that being one of them. I would only need one night since I live less than 5 hours from there. The other two mini-trips will be to Erie, PA to take in some light houses around the Great Lakes and to Cape May for the Lighthouses there, the salt marshes, and the gingerbread houses. I will only stay one night each place since all are fairly close to home.

Thanks,
Mike

Cross the street and you are on the ocean. Around the block to bakery for the best jelly croissant on earth. Best location with best prices great rooms and property. Check out Camp Hero State Park on your way to the lighthouse.

Love to go out there every year for a couple of days. Had dinner at Inlet Seafood and got to watch the blessing of the fleet.

Want to purchase a used model of this camera to have a more convenient “always carry” good quality camera.
What do the folks here think is the oldest version they would consider buying?
Was (for budget purposes) leaning toward the III.

I have an “extra lens” question. Heading to Yellowstone next week with my wife and our #1 grandson (9) for a week. My camera is an Olympus EM10 mk iii with the 14-42 f/3.5 kit lens and the 40-150 f/4.0 “plastic fantastic”. Both of these lenses are going along for sure. From my SLR days I have some Contax-Yashica lenses, one of which is a 135 mm f/2.8 for which I’ve bought an adapter that works well. It’s significantly heavier than the 40-150 because it’s metal and glass, but would it be worth it, with its wider aperture, to take it along for the lower light conditions in the early morning and later evening? I’m comfortable shooting in Manual. Or would I be better off boosting the ISO on the 40-150 in those conditions? (Additional lenses are not in the budget right now). Thanks in advance.
Mark
