Your first 10,000 images are your worst. Thank goodness they're now all digital.
Now that it's digital, you need some more zeros in there.

RF Tele extenders will not fit the EF to RF converter.
Gatorplast is my preferred board. It uses plastic surfaces instead of paper so it does not absorb moisture so it is even more warp resistant. In Maryland, Harbor Sales will cut full sheets to whatever sizes you choose, and offers free delivery.
I said I haven’t used this process this century, not “for a century”.

Have you got any results with this method you could share?
I have not used this process this century, so I dug out my Leitz Pradovit slide projector, removed the lens and popped in a slide. First try with Canon 6D & 100mm macro had vignetting, tried 180 macro and it was worse, 50mm macro with 12mm extension tube and 2x Tele-extender worked best. Once set up, you can shoot faster than you can load slides into the trays.
If you have a slide projector, remove the lens and use a 90 or 100mm autofocus 1:1 Macro lens on camera. Point camera into projector and autofocus on the slide. Much, much faster than any scanner.
Thanks everyone for your kind responses.
The chair spins 360˚ on a 6" lazy Susan ball bearing, and the boom mounted gimbal lets you cover any part of the sky or river, to track the birds in flight. Something you can't do standing behind a tripod.
Left home at 3:15 AM, arrived at the dam at 4:15, went down to the gate at exactly 4:30, was #5 in line for admission to outer parking lot where we waited til 5 for admission. Sunrise was around 8, left at about 10:30 with about 600 shots. There was a line of cars halfway up the access road waiting for cars to leave so they could get in. Selecting keepers was the longest part of the processing.
Thank all, I'm adding a few more in another post.
Arrive by 4:30 AM or you might not get in.
