Here is a shot of a little fellow that seemed to be as curious about me as I was about him.

This is a very good image. To get it to the next level I would suggest the following:

1. Use a polarizing filter. This will help bring out the deeper blue in the sky.

2. Shoot on a tripod. Take three shots. One with the foreground properly exposed. One with the water properly exposed, and one with the skyline properly exposed. Then bring all three images into Photoshop each on its own layer. Then create layer masks to blend each of the properly exposed layers into the single image.

3. I might try shooting lower to the ground, but that depends on terrain.

Just keep experimenting!

Nice shots Paul! I'm getting ready for the local High School football season next week. Wish I could shoot my team in "daylight"! I have to contend with night games, poorly lit field, and black uniforms. Oh to have a 1DX in the arsenal! Maybe someday?

My name is Larry. I call myself a "Promature", more than an amateur but not quite a professional. I've been into digital photography since my daughter's "dance" days. In high school she joined the cheerleaders and I found myself shooting her squad at games. Naturally I began shooting the games.

To improve my photography, I took several classes at the local junior college must of them on studio lighting and composition. Since then I shoot freelance sports for the local newspaper and help to teach the classes I once took at the junior college.

I shoot many different subjects, but my favorites are sports, nature, and product photography. I use a Canon 50D, 5DMkII, Canon EF 70mm-200mm f/2.8L II, EF 24mm-105mm f/4L, EF 16mm-35mm f/2.8L II USM, and EF 100mm f/1.8L Macro.
