Just this moment received a text message that reads:
HMRC have determined that you are eligible to receive a tax refund of 228.37 GBP Click here to begin: Https://hm.rc-05verify.com//.
This SCREAMS scam!!! "HMRC have" instead of "has". "228.37 GBP" What happened to their £ sign? "hm.rc"?
I may be old but I'm not stupid! Quite apart from that , HMRC doesn't have my 'phone. number. The message comes from a mobile number: 07562 131606. BE AWARE!
I reported the number to Action Fraud.
This will undoubtedly provoke the ire of some and hilarity among others
