I walked into Sam's Club the other day and they had a sign by the SX50 that said "last one". It was priced originally at $359 and I purchased this one for $288. It was the display model but it works perfect - I thought it was a good buy!

X50 simply means that the maximum zoom is 50 times bigger than the minimum zoom (1200 divided by 24 = 50). It appears that the SX60 will still be 1200mm, but will be slightly wider at 20mm (changed from 24mm)--not enough to make any real difference. The SX50 is a great little camera & a lot of bang for the buck. :-)

I would wait to see what happens, but if a new camera is announced which looks like an improvement, order it immediately so you get near the front of the pre-order list. If you order from stores like B&H and Adorama with a credit card (not paypal), they do not charge you until the order is fulfilled. If the camera does not ship within a few weeks of your trip, you can always order the Canon SX50 and have it in a few days.

From previous posts it appears that the Canon SX50 is a great bridge camera. I am going to Australia in October and would like to take a bridge camera for those days I don't want to lug my Canon 60D with Tamron 18-270 lens. My question is: does anyone know if a model replacement for the Canon SX50 is on the horizon and will be released prior to October 2014?

Thanks in advance for any input.

Is that Richard Dreyfus up there? :)

No, it was Barack and Hillary clawing up to their spaceship to return to their planet!

Notice the two climbers on the wall in one of the photos. One is hard to see but he is above the other sitting on a ledge.

Olive Garden just landed on the list of the 10 worst restraurant chains to eat at along with Red Lobster (owned by the same company). Waiters may be concerned about tips after the publishing of that article.

This is a good idea. At the bottom of their check, Olive Garden shows what the tip would be for 15%, 18%, and 20%.

No more trying to find that app, fumbling for the calculator, or scribbling math on a napkin.

What makes you think I don't have the proof? You just want an argument and I am not giving it to you. Try to find a college of Design that doesn't use a Mac. The Space Shuttle was designed on a Mac. But you go ahead and keep plugging away with Windows - Which is used by most accountants. Mac does not qualify for those that want "cheap".

Hi Everyone,

I'm looking for a free program that I can use to create a photo slideshow.

I've tried PowerPoint, but it seems that the photo appears inside a white box. I only want the photo to appear, without any white box border.

I appreciate any help and suggestions.

Thanks in advance.

iPhoto on the Mac pretty much does it all. The Mac is the computer of choice in the creative world. In almost every professional photo studio you will find a Mac.

I have purchased Refurb products directly from Canon and have been very satisfied. It is my understanding that if a product is returned to the manufacture or retailer for any reason it must be sold as a refurbished product. I know this is true with computer manufacturers as Apple or Dell. There will be exceptions to any rule.

A friend is looking at buying a Factory Refurb camera at about 20% less than new Retail. I told him I have bought Refurb electronics in the past and was satisfied.

The logic is that the item has been gone over with a fine tooth comb as they never want to see the item again. True?

Any Reurb owners have an opinion?

This camera is much too expensive for current needs. I have also found out that Sony products do not stand up well to travel. I do think they make great products but you can buy as good or better quality for much less.

I guess I was leaning towards the "P" series in case I wanted to borrow it. Thanks for your reply.
