We visit the Portland area often as well specifically Jennings Mills-Milwaukie area where our friend lives.

A shot of a rose in our friend's garden.

Great photo. I'm not far from the Milwaukie area. Live in Happy Valley. I've lived in the Portland area all my life. Have seen many changes over the years.

Thank you. It was a fun day to kick back and enjoy the day.

They do not call it the "Rose City" for nothing... Another Good place to see the Roses is Ladd's Circle. While not as large, It is still a place of beauty.

It sounds like you know the Portland area. I was born and raised in the Laurelhurst neighborhood. Also spent a lot of time in the Grant and Alameda areas. A friend of mines family owned Ladd's Meat Market. St. Ignatius is
church is in the heart of Ladd's Edition. My wife and I were married there a lifetime ago. :)
I know the area well. It's a booming area. (pre COVID-19).

I am not the greatest fan of monochrome, but #2 takes the cake!

Wow, that made my day. :)
Once in awhile I get lucky. This day was one of those days.
Take care, be safe and have a great week.

What lens were you using?

Hi,
Canon, 24-105 lens
Canon 6D camera
For example #7 the white rose. It was shot at 1/500 of a sec. f-16 80mm lens setting ISO 800
For me white has always been a hard color for me to photograph. Usually it gets washed out. I was
pretty happy with this one. I have been taking photos for some time now but still consider myself a rookie.
Take care and thanks for viewing.

These are all great shots, especially with the dark backgrounds. And no blown out reds,, like I usually get.

Thanks, some days things just seem to fall in place. I am still learning but having a great time doing it.

Lovely photos.

I didn’t know that Portland was known for that!

Thank you.
You have never been to the Rose Festival? You would love it. COVID-19 has put a damper on it this year but is the city's major yearly event. Google it, lots of things going on. Canadian and US Navy fleets come to the the city. Two huge parades, fun center on the water front, Rose Cup races (Indy cars) big name entertainment comes to Portland. Rose Festival activities last a couple of weeks. I have been going to the parade for over fifty years,
