What would be far more interesting and useful would be posting the reason behind the photograph. Why was it made? What was going through your mind when you made the image? What is the importance of the image? What is the concept that images portrays visually?

No, the sensors in mirrorless cameras are not exposed to the sun at all times! You don't have to worry your film getting exposed without a lens cap, when shooting with a mirrorless film camera either!

Though if you camera has a cloth shutter, the sun can burn pinholes or worse in the shutter. I had it happen to a Canon rangefinder recently. Current mirrorless cameras do not use cloth shutters so there is far less chance of such a problem.

The very word "photograph" means "writing with light" ("photo" is based on the Greek for "light" and "graph" on the Greek word for "write"). Thus any means of light-writing is the same whether it is with film (analog) or electronics (digital).

Yes. Any image made with using light sensitive materials is a photograph. Also, a camera is not necessary for the creation of photographs.

Simple question. Did you use a light sensitive medium to create your image? If the answer is yes, then you are a photographer.

Depends on the emulsion and the process. Wetplate colloidion is usually around ISO 1. Silver gelatin emulsion speeds vary greatly. With the commercial emulsion I use for my plates the ISO is about ISO 1. Emulsions can initially gain speed and contrast with moderate age. ISO 2-3 is generally standard paper speed. I know of some of that have created home made emulsions in the ISO 25-50 range.

The lens being a further distance from the film/ sensor is a big part of it. The f-number does not change as I understand it. It is similar to bellows extension factor with view cameras. The further the lens from the film plane the more compensation is needed.

Color negative. Portra 160 and 400 in 120. More latitude and I really prefer the more subtle colors. Mostly I shoot b&w film or plates.

Remember it? Ha! I still use it but more sheets rather than rolls at this point.

And if it sells well he can then issue second limited edition by popular demand. In the days of film photography it's kind of difficult to make identical prints after a while although it's possible. With digital it's easy.

As with inking a plate in print making, it can be difficult if not impossible to print two prints exactly the same in the darkroom. Editions often contain slight variances. If an image is known enough and has a definitive version then that version is generally the most valuable. For instance later prints of Adams Moonrise over Hernandez are often more valuable than earlier copies because of the darkened sky that has become the iconic version.

For me an edition is a specific size print. I usually make two different size prints from each of my series. For one series it is 10x13 and 14x18 and for another series they are 10x12 and 20x24. Photography is a bit more complicated than other media because of the ability of enlargement. When I took printmaking classes we always made editions. The prints in an edition all had to be on the same paper, with the same ink and tonal range.

Frankly artists proofs generally mean very little unless one is well known.

Darkroom 327's website is product related. So their biases would lean in that direction. The use of paint and brush is all on a human. Not an electronic tool. Then further enhanced by more electronic tools.

I presume that it is my website you are talking about here. If so, could you expand on your comment that it is product related? I’m really curious to hear more about this

You say it is ignorant because you have no understanding of different views and resort to childish retorts. My contention is that some picture you take using an electronically controlled machine then enhanced with a variety of electronic controlled software programs to enhance that picture to a point that you now declare; look see what I have done. I am an artist, therefore, my end product, the picture is now art.
You have used a machine and software products. You are not an artist nor is the end result art. You are like everyone with a camera, a photographer. Be happy with that. You have allowed ego gratification to get in the way of reality.
You say it is ignorant because you have no underst... (show quote)

Again a very narrow view and description of photography. None of what ypu have mentioned is necessary to produce a photograph.

The message, concept and context are the art. It doesn’t matter how much you process an image. Processing an image will not automically make it art. Art is anout intention.

I knew a woman who was involved with Head Start programs in art. She reminded me of how, when we grew up, coloring outside the lines or using a color other than reality, were considered wrong. How terrible that mindset was (is it still around?).

Businesses are starting to look for creatives because they find many in the business world lack flexibility. A lot of the classes I took in art school resolved around critical thinking and problem solving, primarily 3D design and sculpture. I've noticed several people in corporations don't understand file types and resolution when sending logo files for me to work with at my engraving and printing job.
