Because I live in the Oregon wilderness, we expect cougar issues. Recently, all the pet kitty cats disappeared. We contribute this to a cougar. I thought elk and bears were difficult to photograph, until I set my sights on cougar. I've only seen two in the six years I lived here and both were visible for a micro-second. Even when I have found cougar kills and sit on them for days, I have not gotten a shot of one. UFO's are easier! ... Watch out for pythons!

Molly.. I moved to Oregon from the Florida Keys six years ago and have photographed wildlife here since. Once, while stopped in the Glades, a woman showed me pics of two cougars (puma) she photoed on a sandy road. I've spent my life trying to catch one in the lens, but to no avail- yet. I now have 3,000 pics of elk, mostly shot from my livingroom window. life is good...

Good pics! I sure miss the Everglades since moving to Oregon. Little Green Hurons have always been my favorites

I use a Sony A290 for most of my work, and both a Sigma DG 70-300 and a Tamiron Di 70-300. Within a few months the Sigma destroyed the internal (drive?) gears and was repaired by Sigma on warranty. Now, after using the Tamiron only a few months, it too is grinding internallly. Well, they are not the BEST lenses and I don't know if Sigma will continue to repair the lens under warranty, should it become worn out again. I now turn the camera off/on in with the lens in manual focus mode, then switch the lens to auto foucus. This reduces, but does not eliminate, the grinding. BTW, I get identical results with both these lenses and am wondering if the manufacturers use the same blueprints to build them.

Gotta agree> What hpapened to great photgraphers? Now, they have evolved into great software manipulators. No camera club that I know of has a catagory for "unretouched" photos. So, we all compete for honors in the computer enhanced competition. Me, I wanna take great pics from the get-go...

Yep, sure have. Made no difference.. I'm not complaining, you understand. Just that nobody else seems to have this issue with Photoshop... Leaving for Yellowstonew in the morning, expect some great photos. Will return in 3 weeks and- hopefully- have some pics to post.. Take Care and TY for the response...

A question for rpavich or anyone out there...re: you last statement about RAW format being used in PhotoShop.. I find that I can't open any of SONY's ARW files in Photoshop... I can convert them to TIFF and open them, but not in the ARW format... Other photonuts tell me differently. What do ya think???
PS: I also have Sefir PhotoPlus and can open ARW files in it...
