Just want to say that I have been checking out the posts on B&W! It is wonderful to see the images! I will post a couple later today. I have not been able to go through all the pages yet and not sure if this suggestion has been made....I don't think I can post links on here but I was reading an article from the Digital Photography School site that I get email from once a week. It is definitely worth looking at. Anyway, it just happened to have an article on B/W photography this week! One of the things it mentioned was to turn the Monochrome setting on your camera. There is a link on how to do that. It lets you see (on the live view - not through the viewfinder) what the camera sees in B/W...thus lets you see how it will actually look. A lot of times we take the photo in color and switch it over in the processing/editing of our photos. (guilty as charged! LOL) Seeing it before hand you can decide if the scene works well at all in B/W and/or if you can make a few in camera adjustments to give it more contrast.
Anyway, hope this helps some.
Catch you all later!
Sharon

I also like to experiment with colour to monochrome conversions. Monochrome often enhances textures not always evident in the colour versions.

Lovely! Nicely done.

Some from Missouri. The first one is the bridge over the Missouri river at Jefferson City, MO. The next two is ice crystal on a pane of glass. The last three are painting of a part of history in a area of Jefferson City, Mo. They are spray painted on plywood in boarded up windows in an old furniture store. They were commission by the art council of Jefferson City. They are painted by an artist that grew up in Jefferson City, but now lives in Kansas City, Mo. They were spray painted in black and white.

Nice start, Leslie. We didn't do anything special this year, but I did grill enough chicken breast, chop up peppers, olives, tomatos and onions to make our own pico de gallo as well as mash up some avacados and stuff to create a little guacamole that has lasted us until today. Of course we don't eat as much as we used to. Anyway we had some fun and thought I would share.....

LOL! Good one Larry!

We had a family cookout and I was so busy I didn't get to take pix. Topped off with 2 games of checkers with my grandson and I later left with a friend to capture some fireworks at one of the largest ocean front resorts nearby (Old Orchard Beach)

Beautifully captured Pat! Lovely.... and yes...Orchard Beach! :-)
