Jerry, do you know is there a link available from some reliable reference that substantiates this or is it currently just hearsay?

Well, I searched for Nikon Z and languages, and I found nothing appropriate. As a last resort, I got out of my chair and checked both the Z6 and the Z8. Both have Portuguese available. Brazil is a large country with a large population.

If only one language becomes the standard, it could be much more difficult to buy a camera. "Yes, we have plenty of those cameras, but not one in the language you requested."

No they wouldn't go for the subscription model for the lanquages but they may go for the subscription just to use the camera and firmware update.

In the early days of the Garmin GPS, they charged $75 for each map update. A really bad idea.

This is a link to CBS on YouTube. It shows the aurora over the Ashokan Reservoir, two miles from where I live.

A couple of cat pictures sent by a friend. Also, there's a funny (I thought) clip from German Star Wars.

I've mentioned this before, and I'm mentioning it again. I tend to misplace things, not making a mental note of where I left them, so I can't find them later. A couple of years ago, I bought a Tascam audio recorder. I wanted to use it a few weeks ago, but I couldn't find it. What did I do? Naturally, I bought another one. I got that setup and put it carefully away. Guess what happened next? Right. I can't find it. 🤣

I haven't done a thorough search - ripping up the carpet, checking the dog's poo, looking in the ashes from the wood stove - so I haven't given up hope. It's been only a week, so I'll look everywhere. Of course, I "looked everywhere" for the first one I bought. However this turns out, I'm not buying another one. I bet I'll trip over it while walking to the bathroom at 3:00 AM someday.

Aside from being father of the Wright brothers, what special qualifications did this guy have in science and technology, especially predicting its future? Even if the Wright brothers hadn't invented powered flight, someone else would have done so pretty soon anyway. The Wright brothers' primacy in flight is disputed in parts of Europe, but they are the undisputed human inventors of the banked turn in a flying machine. Birds had been making such turns for years and other humans had been making wide turns with wings level.

Even if the Wright brothers had not demonstrated powered flight in 1903, it wouldn't be long before the first vacuum diode would be invented in 1904 and the vacuum triode in 1906. These were necessary steps in bringing in the electronics industry and commercial broadcasting.

You don't need qualifications to make bold statements. All you need is gullible people who believe them.

I remember reading an article in a magazine in the 1970s about "durables." The idea was that industry is supported by the sale of new, durable products. They are new, in big demand, and they're durable. At the time, they had no idea what the next, big, durable, in-demand product would be. Would anyone like to list some new developments in products since the 1970s? 😂

You can enter your ideas on your person, home computer, or you can even use the multi-purpose cell phone on your pocket.

I was trying to clean the senser on my D750 and the mirror would not lock up. Turns out the battery needs to be 60% or the mirror won't lock up.

Interesting. I guess they don't want the mirror dropping while you're wiping the sensor.

Charging 5% more if you pay by credit card isn't enough. The statement below is on the bottom of the menu at the GioBatta restaurant in Red Hook, NY. There is a lengthy discussion on nextdoor.com about this. The wording is vague enough that it could mean lots of things. Maybe it means that they are charging you more than the price on the menu so they can afford to pay their employees a higher hourly rate. Maybe that 18% is distributed among their employees. "Tipping is not necessary..." Really?! Waiters don't want a tip? Are they being paid $15/hr?

If you want to tip your waiter 20%, you can mentally add about 40% to the prices on the menu. That 18% will be "distributed among" employees - your tip will go equally to your good waiter and the guy who got your order wrong, as well as the cook and any others who work there. Does that include the owner? He works there. I wonder if they add another 5% for using a credit card.

This is the Red Hook a hundred miles north of NYC, not the neighborhood in Brooklyn.

It seems that the Z 6II and the Z 8 require EN-EL15C batteries. When the battery in my Z6 was low, I popped in another one of my EN-EL15 batteries. I got a notice on the LCD saying I could not use that battery. I wonder if it was a generic. Let me check.

THIS IS BAD! My Z6 and Z8 will not work with generic batteries. I inserted a Nikon EN-EL15C, and both cameras worked fine. I haven't bought any generic C batteries for them yet. They are advertised as being for the Z cameras.

From Amazon review -
[i]"First of all, they work in my new Nikon Z 8 camera! (My older batteries that worked fine in my Nikon Z 6ii do not work in the Z 8, giving me only an error message.)
Secondly, these Batmax batteries communicate perfectly with my Z 8 camera, showing charge remaining and number of pictures taken."[i/]

Amazon lists a C battery for $50. Others are offering it for $60. I don't expect to have a large supply of C batteries. Yes, I know - if I can afford an expensive camera, batteries that cost 0.015% of the camera's price shouldn't be a concern. It's still $60 vs $20 for generic. Considering this, I think Nikon should supply two batteries with their Z cameras. When the supplied battery goes dead, you could use the second battery.

Why didn't I know there was going to be a display of the aurora a couple of nights ago? I spend so much time online and on YouTube. They say tonight will not be good, but Monday - maybe.

I've given up trying to decide where posts go, so I'm putting the "Photo" here. If someone thinks it's in the wrong place, Please! Oh, Please! Let me know so I can add this to the list of other mistakes I've made in life. I have one page of errors almost half full now. 😋

This was posted by a friend who lives in Arizona.

Someone posted a question to another person asking if a certain Nikon camera had Portuguese available in the Menu. I haven't looked at my Nkons, but I doubt it. I found the comment below online. This is from an individual, not an authority. Deciding what languages to include on a camera must be a concern. Having only the language of the country where it is sold is not a good idea, though, because it can't be easil;y sold in another country.

"Nikon fixing languages. Limiting languages starting from Z7II onwards.
Just a heads up. For those English speaking folks. Avoid getting cameras from Asia Pacific or non-native English countries. China has locked their cameras to Chinese only. Just like how Japan usually locks to Japanese. I have been told that Nikon will now install native language. So, Russia with Russian only. Germany with German only. China with Chinese only. Further models like Z9 will follow suit. I have lots of friends changing camera system due to this. To add English, a service fee USD 250 before tax so it seems. Such is so in China, Hong Kong, Korea, and Japan. No idea if Thailand and Vietnam are language locked also."

I started to use them about 10 years ago. Jerry's type I first came across about 6 years ago. They work nicely. The mouse cubes involve travel to release the mouse humanely somewhere but if you live in a congested area you're just giving the problem to your neighbor or else driving too far.

They're both better than the glue traps. Those are a one-use type of thing.

The mice are dead as soon as they trip the trap. I throw them outside, and they're gone in a day.
