I have about $2000 total invested in this little boat. I also have another electric kayak that doesn't have quite as much extra stuff and that one was designed to be electric powered. I have about $2000 in that one too.
They are really fun.

Nice! Still a pretty penny, but not as bad as I feared (was leaning toward $3K - $4K). I presume you have to trailer it for transport?

Man. I gotta say I love the concept of that, but I shudder at the cost. Definitely looks like a sweet set-up.

Maybe I'll get used to it? It's not yet intuitive for me to know which way to turn the wheel? It is a very wide angle lens and shows me a lot! It feels strange to look forward while driving backwards! I just use it to glance at and make sure there is nothing behind me. I know all the new cars come equipped with these cameras. I just got to learn how to use it.

Dave, I have one of these built in to the used CR-V I bought last year. It does take some getting used to, but once I got accustomed to it I really like it.

Went there for the first time last year. KEEP MOVING! Lot to see in two days. I'd like to go back some time and spend close to a week.

In the field I breath on my lens or filter, then rub off in a circular motion starting from the edges and working in with lens tissue. I also carry my trusty Giottos Rocket Blaster with me where ever I go.

I was always told to start from the middle of the lens and work toward the edges. That way, any dust or particles the get knocked loose during the cleaning get moved to the outside of the lens instead of the middle of the lens.

The Canon 100-300 is a discontinued EF model and one of the earliest EF lenses, that is why I say old. Condition wise it works great and I really like it, it is Canon 100-300 f/5.6L. the other lens is Tamron 28-300 Di VC PZD also in excellent condition.

I was leaning in the same direction travisdeland was until I looked up the 6D after I posted and found it had a full-frame sensor. Sounds like Apaflo has a great handle on your observations.

Wow! I really can't find anything to criticize. Composition is great, the fore-ground trees are sharp and the soft background focus imposed by the fog is excellent. Hope it is or soon will be hanging on a wall sometime soon.

Reminds me of a friend,(Norman) whose wife, many years ago, was always complaining of the money and time he spent on his "'tography", so he sat her down one day and told her he really wanted her to understand what he was doing, and presented her with one of his old, totally manual slrs ( there being no dslrs in those days), some rolls of film, an old exposure meter, and a set of Adams' classic books. She was duly touched by his thoughtfulness, teared up a little, kissed him, and went off to read-up on how to become a photographer.

And the next morning he went out-of-town on business.

When he returned a few days later his wife was furious! She screamed at him "Norman, How do you ever expect one to comprehend all this technical gobblygook and blather...There's no enjoyment in this...it's all one big headache...If I never lay my hands on a camera again it will be too soon! How you can spend your time on this stuff I'll never understand!"

...and he quietly replied: "Now see? And here all along you thought I was having a good time! Darling, It just keeps me out of the bars and away from other women!"

...and supposedly, she never complained again about his 'tography habit"

It might help to know specific models of lenses to answer your question, but I do have one question for you. When you say 'old Canon 100-300' are you talking as in old 35mm lens or old DSLR lens?

It may depend on what you are going to do with the files and/or more specifically, how you will view or use them.

As Bob mentioned above, .tiff is more universal. On the flip side, .tiff can get HUGE very quickly in regards to memory space. While memory is relatively cheap, you still need to back-up your files and store those backups somewhere. If cloud storage is one of your options, .tiff files could become unwieldy for you.

I would agree with lamiaceae - Landscape. This isn't a new building or structure that is trying to dominate it's surroundings. This is a building that has blended with it's surroundings to become an integral part of the landscape, just like the fauna surrounding it. Just try to imagine that site WITHOUT the building.

...I have had cameras most of my adult life dating back to Viet Nam. Never anything very serious just good quality Minolta film stuff for family pictures. In 2001 I acquired a Dimage 7I, and used it until 2009 when I got a D40, then came a D5100 and just recently I picked up a used D7000. I now have a couple of FX lens to use on the 7000...one of which is a Nikon "Series E" 50mm f2.8. Long story short I put it on my D5100 body switched it to manual and I am having a ball taking pictures. I am thinking of purchasing a couple more Series E lenses to play with before investing a lot of $$$ in current FX lens. What is your opinion of the Series E Lenses and which ones are worth buying...would a light meter be something I should get if I am going to really get into using manual on my cameras.

Thanks in Advance

I have 3 older Series E lenses left over from my old Nikon EM 35mm - 35mm, 50mm and 100mm. A guy that really understood full manual set-up could get a lot accomplished with those three lenses.

I like this image. Very creative and the colors and subject matter really go well together. Fantastic reflections. On that note, I wonder if there may be too much scenery along with the bird. Cropping out almost the entire left side (as sacrilegious as cropping that wonderful reflection is) really puts the emphasis on the bird.

On there other hand, if your object was to show the lake as a whole and the bird is just incidental detail then you nailed it perfectly!
