That's a drop the mic sort of mighty fine image, Tman.

The Donna Kay is a shrimpboat from Louisiana that has washed ashore at Cape San Blas on the Florida panhandle.
The once proud Donna Kay is now a bit worse for wear but on dark nights during the summer she is visited by a dark horse. The photo shown here shows Donna resting on a sandbar as the Milky Way rises. If you look carefully
about halfway above the ship's bow and the top of the frame the Nubulae known as the Dark Horse can be seen about half way between the ship and the top of the frame.

Photo taken with Nikon D850, 24-70 mm lens with ISO 4000, 13 seconds and f2.8

How hot was the air which you breathed?

I really have no idea. They gave me a respirator when we were in the biggest part of the blaze

What a wonderful experience. I definitely appreciate the controlled burn. It saves so much. It is too bad that California no longer does it nor do they have fire breaks. I remember as a kid looking up and seeing so much. Then a visit with the forest rangers really taught me about the necessities. #1 is a truly wonderful shot. Mahalo for sharing.

Thanks for the comments. You are so right about the rangers teaching me a great deal.

Like the set. My favorite is #1 with an excellent composition.

Glad you liked the first shot. Standing there camera in hand feeling the heat and then the sudden flare up and the roar simply took my breath away. Before it all started I kept think, "just don't mess up" but once it started it was all about muscle memory and getting the shot.

Very impressive of what can happen... Great series

Seeing it live is so much different than seeing it on the news. The heat, smoke and sense of danger really get the adrenaline going.
Thanks for stopping by.

What an awesome experience!! To witness this upclose and personal, even in a controlled event, is truly enviable and they certainly chose the right photographer to accompany them. Thank you for sharing this remarkable photoshoot! The last image just takes my breath away, knowing from where it came.

HI. Great to hear from you. I agree that last shot was something special after seeing all the destruction.
I'm glad you liked the photos.
