Digging thru the archives I found some favorite images that evoked memories. I hope you'll find this hodgepodge interesting. The baby is my great-grandson. It was a thrill to have a close encounter with the Galapagos Tortoise. I joined the Marine Corps in 1943; this is me and the Marine I replaced. I'm always happy to get your comments and learn from criticism.

Your photos are really great. I especially like the one of your great-grandson! Thanks for posting.

Some from this morning. The first three are female Anna's and the rest are Rufous. The last is Mrs. Rufous (I believe or Jr.). I can't quite get good in flight shots so I've included a couple of wing flaps for fun.

I love hummingbirds, and the ways you have pictured them are stunning.

Don't blame you for taking this beautiful photo, Dlevon! What equipment did you use?

Those are beautiful ducks, as well as great photos. Don't let the guys from Duck Dynasty see them!

We were very fortunate and saw lion aplenty, 3 different cheetas and a beautiful leopard. One morning, in the Porini Lion camp, we saw 3 different prides of lions before 10am. It was absolutely incredible. We also saw a lion kill and on different 2 occasions saw lions feeding on their prey, shortly after making their kill.

Those are sharp, well-composed photos! Great job! I really like the lion at sunrise.

Unfortunately the building blocked out part of the flag but it still came out reasonably well I thought.

Amazing shot! I can't believe you caught the eagle so close to the flag. You really caught the image on the fly(I know-bad joke)!

We flew into Quito, finally arriving at our hotel at 1 a.m. Promptly at six a.m. our guide picked us up to start our five day bird photo adventure. Whew. Then we drove right up to 11,500 elevation and hiked for a couple of miles. (If I had it to do over again, I would acclimate to the elevation for a day or two in Quito first.)

But, wow, were we rewarded for our shortness of breath. One of the first hummers we saw was the Great Sapphirewing. It is huge - as long as a robin or blackbird. Its wings don't buzz but more of a very fast flap, flap, flap.

Not to be outdone, soon a Sword-billed Hummingbird showed up. It is huge also - the bill alone is over 4 inches. Bill and all, it is
10 inches long.

Such beautiful hummers and amazingly sharp photos! What camera and lens did you use?

During our visit to Charleston, SC, decided to go Wormsloe, Savannah as we had heard beautiful drive way of oak trees. I was amazed to see the oak trees lined up and touching each other from both side. Trees were covered with beautiful Spanish Moss.

Mohammed, these are beautiful! I wonder how old those oak trees in #2 are?

Beautiful flowers and great photography! What is the name of the flower in #5?

Great cars. I had six of them including the Karman Ghia model. My first one was a 59 with spare gas tank lever. What heater. I carried a ice scraper on cold days to scrape the film of ice from breathing in the car. I would drive from New York City to New Jersey for work 104 miles a day. Gas was 21.9 cents and they washed your windows and checked your oil.

I had a '67 beige VW back during my last year at The U of Texas. Gas was 26 cents per gallon and I could drive all over Austin for a week. The gas tank was still in the front trunk. I loved that car!
