I dont think you can really appericate the Beauty of the Grand Canyon until you hike down into the canyon or raft the rapids.only about 5% of the vistors ever see more than the view from the South Rim or the North Rim. I have been lucky I have seen it from both locations and it is Awesome plctures cannot do it justice.
much more to see and take pictures of along the coast then on I 5. you can always take I 5when you head home. I hope you have a great trip.

Bodie is a great place to shoot pictures I was there on weds the 12th. the town was still going strong in 1932 when a fire almost destroyed it all what you see now is what was left after that fire. in 1879 it was the second largest town in Calif. the dvd of the town is great.
Tex Ritter did the record in the mid 50s I have the record somewhere. I like the way he did the picture at the end. thanks for sharing this.
buy the book called Photosecrets San Francisco & Northern California by Andrew Hudson the price new is $17.00 but you can find it cheaper used on Amason. this book will cover all the areas that you want to vist.it will tell you everthing you need to know. where to go what to see how to get there places to take pictures of and the best time and location to take them. I think they should only pay out $50. millon to each winner that way there would be more winners and your odds would be lowered to about 75 millon to one .I donated $6.00 to the cause.when it first started I hit 5 out of 6 no mega num. but only got $1700.00 still bought me a nice n60 nicon and zoom lens havent been that close since.

I have the sony A65 an I really like it it has more features then I will ever use.however the one feature I do like on the A77 that the A65 does not have is the fact that it is weatherproff but being from Southern Calif.I did not think it justified spending the extra $200.00 or more for that feature.both are great cameras.I hope you have fun with yours.
the hikeing is great but if you really want to see Brice Canyon take the horseback ride it is a 2 hour trip and its great.if you do the trip dont forget your camera.
I have the AW100 also if you take it off auto you have 20 diff. setting that will cover anything you want to shoot and it fits in your pocket. buy an extra batt. and take it with you.play with it on the cruise or let the kids use it remember its waterproff to 33ft.and shockproff it will be great around the water,I like mine for whitewater rafting;sking; and kayaking.an it takes some nice pictures.

I also use the Tamron 18 to 270 on my Sony A65 and I love it.its a great lens for a walk around lens here in San Diego.
