I am new to photography and have heard about Grey Market Camera's. What are the cons and what are the pros of purchasing such a camera?

For Nikon, if you are in the US and buy a new gray market Nikon camera that carries a one year warranty, if you need warranty service Nikon USA will NOT service it. You must send it back to the country of origin for service. ie: if the camera was originally sent to England Nikon market, then you must send it to England Nikon for warranty service.
Once the warranty service period ends, Nikon USA will continue to NOT service it should it need serviced.
Moral of story, if you want a new Nikon and you want service in the US, buy a USA Nikon from an authorized Nikon dealer, like Adorama or B&H for starters.
Gray Market Nikon camera's can be sold for less than what a Nikon USA camera will sell for in the US, that is the HOOK most retailers use to get you to buy.

Bricks and sticks stores are going the way of buggy whips in every industry, not just photography. Sad, but change is inevitable. Whole malls are going under, not just the individual stores. It may not happen in my lifetime but I predict the day will come when you will be hard pressed to find a store of any kind except groceries and barber shops.

Groceries are being delivered in ever increasing numbers. M

What!!?? So in your infinite wisdom you have designated him as a person with "special needs"
What a pompous assumption. You know what happens when you make assumptions? You inherit the first three letters of the word. You wear it well.

It is hard to deny the impact that Ebay and Amazon have had on local camera stores.

They also put Toys or Us and Sears out of business. Along with many others.

I believe YM Camera is in Youngstown. I’m betting it is retirement time for the owners and there is nobody who wants to take over the business for a number of reasons. This happens every day to all kinds of businesses. Such is life...

Youngstown Microfilm in the film days made their reputation developing football game films. used to take movie 16 mm to them after the game Saturday night and they had it the following Sunday afternoon.
after film died they reinvented themselves as YM. They are the largest camera store between Cleveland and Pittsburgh. They are very well stocked. Although I still prefer to do business with Campus Camera in Kent Ohio.

As you did in yours. Perhaps next time you will not be quick to judge.

As an educator for over 35 years I can tell you that many folks do not learn by their mistakes. It was not a judgement call. He said it himself that this was the SECOND time it has happened.
But, as a former special education teacher, I really understand him and his special needs.

Right, it does not produce (or is less likely) to produce moire patterns because it has an anti-aliasing filter. They've started to remove AA filters from cameras because resolution is becoming higher. Look at Canon's description of the 5DS R. That camera cancels the effects of an AA filter.

Low-pass filter effect cancellation
For photographers wanting the ultimate in high resolution capture, the EOS 5DS R camera has a low-pass filter* (LPF) effect cancellation. While a low-pass filter is useful to reduce color artifacts and moiré typical with digital capture, it also reduces detail at the pixel level. With the LPF disabled, the EOS 5DS R takes full advantage of the original resolving power of the camera's 50.6 Megapixel sensor. More detail is captured and retained in the original image, perfect for landscape and commercial applications where pixel-level detail is scrutinized and when the sharpest possible image is needed.
Right, it does not produce (or is less likely) to ... (show quote)

I will respectively agree to disagree with you on AA filters.

Being a r****t is a two way street.
It all boils down to education. How can you expect to get a good job and progress without it?

You of little faith. Many, many r****t's exist among us. They hold down GOOD jobs and progress quite nicely and many are well educated. If they were easy to spot their would be a lot less of them than their are. But limiting them by your definition sort of makes you a r****t too.

Nikon cameras do not have a parallax correction in the menu. Though some offer some keystone correction. It's in the retouch menu and it's called Perspective Control.

My bad, you are correct. But it does a good quick job at perspective control.

It has nothing to do with cost. The reason the D5 has an anti aliasing filter is because it's 21 megapixels on a full frame camera. It's more likely to produce moire patterns.

But it does not produce moire patterns. You really will have to try harder.

Family support is the first rung in the ladder, that two parents work to ensure the success of their children. Education is the second rung. Both of those are priority.

Sounds great. Stalin used the same principal you have used. His favorite quote was, "give me a child to the age of 5, and I will give you a c*******t for life."
Remember something very important, you are raising YOUR children right, but many others unfortunately are bringing their children up in a home that despises minorities and teach h**e to their children. And guess what they grow up to be?

I didn't enlarge it. The people who took the photos for the test did. No, I wouldn't use the image for printing. The omission of an AA filter does resolve more fine detail though. Camera makers are removing AA filters for a reason. With the newer high resolution sensors, it's less likely that moire patterns will appear in an image.

Interesting statement. The Nikon D5, a $6500.00 camera, has a AA filter. And it take OUTSTANDING images. I wonder why?

Consider yourself fortunate, there is not a camera store anywhere near Mansfield, OH. I always get a chuckle when someone suggests to go to your camera store and test a camera via "hands on" experience. Easier said than done!

Campus Camera in Kent Ohio is 1 hour and 17 minutes away from you. That is a half hour closer than I am. They are a great store with a lot of knowledge. Their number is (330) 678-1297
DODD camera in Akron is just an hour away. Their number is (330) 873-1700
