These two have just shown up and are on their way south in a couple of weeks.

Beautiful bird and very impressive shots, Ron!!

I think that the adult phase of this hawk is the best looking of all hawks in that size group. Getting to under 20 feet when taking these shots was one of the best shoots ever.

This immature Red Shouldered Hawk emptied the bird bath and then, perched on our fence to dry off in the morning sun.

I'd call it a new color..pondhawk green!

I looked for the proper name for this guy and all I found was a site from the U.K. and it was identified as a Southern Hawk. Thanks for the I.D., Dixiegirl (AGAIN).

I am a real fan of Dragonflies. Their wings are amazing things. The structure of them is unlike most other insects. Those white spots on the wings of this one are just refractions of the ones on the rock which are probably small pieces of quartz.

If I want a challenge, I will mount my 45 year old Takumar SMC 50mm on my Sony A57 and shoot like it's the seventies again. Great fun!

If you ever had the pleasure of using a Sony 18-135 SAM, you just might sell your Nikon stuff. At 100mm, it is impossible to tell the difference between it and my 70-300 APO G at the same length. The latter lens is an absolute masterpiece.

I love photographing these guys. They always sit so still, and are unafraid if you get close.

I believe that the bears were using their outhouses instead of the clear mountain streams, during that period.

Nothing could beat stopping at roadside picnic table in the Colorado Rockies with my family. Is that a cool Budweiser awaiting the parched photographer? Copied from a 43 year old slide.

We've all probably been guilty of having a telephone pole inadvertently sprout out of someone's head somewhere in our photographic past...but this one really drives home the point of being aware of your subject's position.

Bob, that is the best photo I've seen in a long time. Keep up the great work.

At seventy five thousand feet, makes it hard to do unless you have the right equipment.

75,000 feet? Conventional aircraft are pretty much done at 50,000. Above that, you will need fuel plus oxidizer. Your photo shows an airplane at 35,000 to 45,000. Google the term "Mach stall".
