I use Black Rapid sling strap - especially good with heavy camera and lens setup. No weight on the neck and convenient if you are also wearing a pair of binoculars.

Concur with StroDav's comments. Steve Perry's guide is great - 425 pages for $28. Matt Granger is also good. Doesn't hurt to download the free Nikon (900 + page) guide to your desktop for cross reference purposes. Good luck.

It's a beast of a camera, a brick -- lots of features and programmable buttons. Takes good pictures too!

There is a lesson here. We have two arms, two legs, two eyes and two hands. We should learn how to use them equally in case one goes on the fritz. Always good to have a back up plan!

In the interest of the environment, we are all better off without 900 page manuals -- especially since not everyone (a small percentage) will actually read them.

Probably biggest reason; shutter button is on the right side! To my knowledge "they" don't make lefthanded cameras.

I'm 100% in Paul's camp on almost all his workflow. For 500 pics I can probably process in a few hours or less. I save my special keepers or 5 star shots that will be used/shared/framed or have some other purpose for later more timely and special editing work. Otherwise I am pretty quick through post processing. I also frequently apply "auto develop" or presets when I don't have tricky lighting or exposure issues. While this is quick - I almost always adjust these.
Lastly, my postprocessing does not include sharing.

You are correct. Just an old bad habit of referring to 4x6 prints. Yes, 3:2 aspect ratio. People don't always realize by cropping to what they believe is a larger size 10x8 that they lose a good part of the image.

As well as many of the other comments, most full frame DSLR's shoot in a 4x6 crop mode. If you crop off this size you will more than likely lose some of the image; i.e. 5x7 or 8x10 aspect ratio.
