Photogirl started this challenge with a quote from Ansel Adams...here's a B+W (mostly) set that he would never claim as his own, but I must.

.

Yosemite - Nevada Falls, from the trail between Vernal Falls and Nevada Falls

Tetons after the clouds

A dusting - Big Bear Lake, CA

The Merced River in Yosemite Valley on a cloudy day

Ysemite Falls in Spring

Finally, the "mostly" part...a sorta natural duo tone at a geyser basin in Yellowstone, late in the day.

Gorgeous views of the Coast and The Mountains Mr. Maybe..Which part of the Mnt's is your getaway place located in?..pg. 3

Big Bear Lake. Former Serrano Native American valley homestead, with lots of Grizzly Bears back when. Became a mini Gold Rush site during the big one in Central/North CA. Now a days, a bit sleepy, but 3 big-ish ski mountains and lots of lake oriented summer fun. We tend to hike and enjoy the solitude on non-busy times of the week/year. Still skiing a little too. Our home is at 7,400 ft. elevation. We enjoy the thin air as long as we don't need to do anything strenuous :)

You mentioned Idlewild, I think, as someplace you knew. That is on the foothills to San Gorgonio (SoCal's highest mountain, I think...11,500 ft or so), kinda near Palm Springs. Big Bear is North of that a little in the next mountain range over the 10 freeway, just west of the somewhat famous Jashua Tree NP, with their milky way viewing fame...I've never been there for that. Not a big desert fan...or is that dessert? I like sweets, just not hot and dry, whichever that is. :) Sorry for the wiki response...just got interested in my own location's travel log a bit.

I have never responded to a "Challenge" before so I hope I am putting this in the right format.

Here are a couple of shots from the Swiss Alps from a few weeks back. Shot with a Panasonic GX8 and a 12-60 mm lens.

Best viewed in Download.

pg 3 Very Nice...looks like a great place to live. Is there a name for this place?

Oh, my gosh, such beautiful land scapes! Loved them all!

pg 2 I enjoyed seeing your travel log of the CA coast this last month. The Northern part is particularly spectacular, I think.

I like the two images of Horseneck Beach...I think I like the darker one better (although both are wall-worthy), it feels more moody and the sun on the horizon is that much more glowing. :)

Thanks for hosting (again) Photogirl. You've picked a topic that my hard drive is full of. It's making it hard to choose what to share.

To simplify, I've finally decided to stay close to home(s).

Here's a few... (there's not very much "land" in some of these...I hope they still fit the scheme)
.

The beach with the Palos Verdes Peninsula in the distance.

Sand dunes blowing up on the beach, with Palos Verdes in the distance...and even more distant, Santa Catalina Island, 30+ miles off shore.

On the PV Peninsula with California Poppies in bloom.

and a couple from our other home in the SoCal Mountains.

Probably my last for this challenge...it has been very interesting to see all the different interpretations of "Wall art and graffiti".

My wife has a Masters in Public Art Administration from USC. She always makes a distinction between "public art" (which must be commissioned/owned publicly) and "Art in Public Places", which applies to everything else. In 2017 we spent 3 weeks wandering around Spain. It was a great time.

I have been making photo memory books of all of our trips. The one I made for our Spain trip ended with this image.

Here is what I wrote about it then....it still makes me choke up a bit when I see this image again. I hope you enjoy it.

"One home...above a Pintxo Bar in Donostia, had fit together a simple bench, on which to place a sculpture of Dad and Son, (or some other relation...it doesn't really matter who is being depicted) fishing....with Love as the bait.

That's probably what we all do, all the time.

This sculpture is a little dirty, a little worn, and a little ragged. But it is special!

This book uses pictures to document our visit to Spain, Catalonia and the Basque Country, but it can't capture the essence of the people we met there.

I believe we are all the same, around the world, all wanting love, peace and comfort.

It doesn't require very much wealth, but it does require compassion and the willingness to listen.

Maybe that's what happens when you fish with love as bait."

Glacier NP is my #1 favorite NP to visit. There is such a large variety of beautiful hikes and such iconic vistas. Each time we go there, it always different. These images are from the Avalanche lake area in Aug 2018. We started out there early in the early morning, so we had some of the benefit of some early morning light. The difficulty of the entire trip was the smoky haze due to the west coast fires. At times, the visibility was only a couple of miles, as compared to the normally ultra clear air. But the haze did provide some interesting photo opportunities. One, it made early morning sun rays much more prominent.

We got out to the lake early before most people were out there and experienced some forest drama. A couple fishing, said there was a small grizzly in the area. A couple of minutes later a doe came running out of the woods. She was obviously very nervous and on full alert but didn't seem to care about us at all. She just kept watching into the woods, we assumed, for the grizzly. However, a few minutes later we saw the focus of her attention. She got separated from her fawn while a small bear was running around the area. She finally found her fawn and they left the area, unharmed. So it ended with a happy ending.

Here's a couple from Spain, Catalonia in particular. Here flies are sacred wall art, attached to buildings and painted onto glass elevator shaft walls. Google Sant NarcĂs and his flies if you want to know more.
