I know it's not possible, but I could swear the cardinals look happy after visiting the feeder.

We have a juniper tree that has lots of little bare branches for birds to perch upon. Make for some really good light.

Cowbirds developed the strange habit of laying eggs in other birds' nests. The allow the adopted parents to raise their young as their own, often to the detriment of their own chicks.

I was out with my 150-600mm and this guy landed so close he filled the frame.

The snowy egrets are coming and going all day at this pond. Sooner or later, they put on a show.

The Sidney Lanier Bridge is the gateway to the Golden Isles. We call this the "new bridge" as it was replaced about 20 years go.

Very nice! Reminds me of the Ravenel Bridge here in Charleston.

It's part of the same design series that was put in place when US-17 was overhauled. Charleston, Savannah and Brunswick, all have a variant of the "harp-stay" arrangement. Gives our portion of US-17 uniform feel. Of course, Dames Point Bridge in Jacksonville was the first like it in the South, but it's not on 17.

This osprey was on the nest until a hawk of some sort hovered overhead. It was looking like a fight, but the hawk never dropped down.

Sounds like what you are describing is similar to what is called a "preset" in Lightroom.

Don

Lightroom has LUTs too, if I remember correctly. The biggest difference between the two is how they are applied by the program in use. A preset applies slider (in most cases) settings to an exposure, while a LUT uses external settings defined in the table. If you use more than one program or want an image to match a video clip, you can get a consistent look and feel applying the same LUT.

Much like all beagles are dogs, but not all dogs are beagles; all LUTs are a type of preset but not all presets are LUTs

Just to see the effect of the LUT, this is the exact same image with the LUT turned off

For post, I use On1 PhotoRAW to edit RAW files. In it, I can apply all types of lookup tables or LUT. A LUT is simply way to consistently color grade images. In other words, if you equally balance the contrast on several exposures, a LUT will produce images that have a similar look and feel. In this case, I apply a black and white LUT with a chrome undertone at a 90% transparency.

LUTs are very common in digital video processing. Think of the consistent dark and moody look of a film noir movie LUTs make it easy to convert otherwise properly exposed video into that sort of look. It's also the easy way to have all the images in something like an ad campaign give the same emotional feel. They are powerful and take a bit of getting use to them but if you put in the time, they can take you post processing up a notch.
