I'm sorry, but I disagree profoundly with this article, and it's being here; it makes the author and those who sympathize look very, very small. I hope those readers and the author experience enough growth in their lives eventually to be embarassed.
The Obamas have been treated very rudely by a large portion of our society, and it's not just politics, and this is another example.
Shame.
It's true that they life a life that a very large portion of mankind would envy.
Does anyone think that's been easy?
Politicians in public life have said rude thing about her weight, and those same men would start throwing punches if anyone said the same about their own wives.
Donald Trump is a joke, but no one was classless enough to make jokes about his wife because of it.
Nancy Reagan had some sort of spiritualist advisor <it's spelled "adviser"> in the White House, but no one attacked her dignity over it, much as they must be embarassed <it's spelled "embarrassed"> about it.
Does it make anyone proud that they attacked the dress of the two daughters at that silly turkey pardon affair at Thanksgiving?
I think it is perfectly appropriate for a successful black adult to address a black college class, and share the additional burden they carried with a graduating class that will bear that same burden.
And this article is just the sort of burden they all have to share together, to the shame and embarassment <it's spelled "embarrassment"> of some portion of white society.
Who is there that should be proud of this? I am sorry to see this, and sorry and embarassed <at least you're consistent> that someone thought I would like to see it.
It is a disgrace.
I'm sorry, but I disagree profoundly with this art... (
