Thanks Louis, not bad for your first try. I tried the Remote software, but for some reason, I’m back to the computer not recognizing the camera. My settings haven’t changed, and Capture One still works, but not the Remote. Does it work for you?
Hi Pat,
I guess I had beginner's luck...lol But, you got me worked up since I had not tethered before, but read about it.
Now, I dug in and managed to connect and tether, so here goes...
First disclosure, I am on PC and you on Mac, I also have the a6000, so there may be a few differences?
Next, I installed the latest Sony Imaging Edge suite, since I did not have the latest.
I have Capture1 Express for Sony version 11.2 which is not the very latest, but they make it complicated to not go for the Pro ($) (I hesitate since I have Lightroom 6)
I may not be up to date on this but my recent understanding of C1 is that with the Trial Version you have the Pro C1 (with tethering) for 30 days. Then, you are downgraded to Express with indirect Tethering via the Sony Imaging Edge suite, unless you pay for the C1 Pro.
Now, with Sony Imaging Edge suite, the sequence (in my case anyway?) is important!
1- Camera USB connection = PC Remote (you got that already...)
2- Plug USB cable to computer
3- Open Imaging Edge Viewer (do not open Imaging Edge Remote directly)
4- Turn on Camera
5- In Imaging Edge Viewer, select Remote
6- In Remote, create folder for the pictures. My default folder was: C:\Users\lgreg_000\Pictures\Session studio. (I added Tether for a clear reference, so: ...\Pictures\Session studio Tether) As you may now suspect, my system is in French. You can test a shot now, and see it in Imaging Edge Viewer!
Pause... ;)
7- In C1, under Camera, select: Select Hot Folder (your ...\Pictures\Session studio...)
8- In C1, again under Camera, select: Hot Folder Enabled
9- Shoot away...!
