What gives you the idea that it's supposed to look real?

If it amuses you please sit at home asking AI to create images for you. But please do not call it photography and do not pretend that you have captured/created that image. Personally I cannot imagine getting any satisfaction from this. What a waste of the 50+ years I have spent learning my craft.

Do you realise that there are those amongst us who have the interest and intelligence to learn more than one craft?

Another “sports photographer”.

You sound jealous that there are those that photograph a certain genre who find that new technology opens up easier access to getting what they want.

"Once it arrives, the retailer calls their local contact to on-sell at a predetermined price instead of unpacking the items. Pallets of stock are then moved into awaiting trucks and flown or shipped to an awaiting Hong Kong syndicate."

It doesn't seem that the goods were intended by the manufacturers to be sold in Hong Kong. Besides I didn't find prices in Hong Kong any cheaper than in the USA.

Agree, the 'goods' were not intended solely for sale in HK. You say that you didn't find the prices any cheaper in HK, but do you know whether you were looking at authorised Nikon resellers goods or sellers with Gray Market goods?

It said they use a syndicate in Hong Kong but the goods were shipped to another country first. What I really want to know that which countries are these good originally intended to ship to.

I did not read it as the goods were shipped to another country first, they went to an HK 'syndicate' (read dodgy company) direct from the Nikon manufacturer. But it is complicated.

From there, the HK syndicate, they are distributed to various places around the world and sold cheaper and called Gray Market goods.

So the question is where these gray market good come from? Don't they have to come from a country where the price is less than the USA?

Partly covered here.

Our 16 year old granddaughter has requested some kind of digital camera for Christmas, she wants one that is lightweight but still has ISO/aperture/shutter speed controls.

The more responses I read suggest that there are those that are totally out of touch with what the vast majority of 16 year old girls are like. They are tech savvy, and when they refer to 'lightweight' you can guarantee this also includes 'trendy'

Some, but not ALL.....

I don't shoot to WOW people, I shoot for me.
If someone says WOW, that's cool, but definitely NOT why I'm shooting!

So PLEASE don't put us all of us in the same basket!

That's why I used the word "often" They will know who they are.

My goal has never been to “wow” folk {not even with flying vehicles}.

That's often a reason given by those who are too lazy to put the effort in or who are simply too challenged to accomplish anything for which some others will say 'Wow', that's a great capture.

Hi, I am buying Nikon Z8 but there are two different models, USA and international. USA one is more expensive. Which one should I buy? Thanks

Apart from the obvious already covered regarding warranty the Z8 has already had two recalls.

If you were to consider purchasing the 'cheaper' one you need to be absolutely 100% sure it is not one that has not had the recall work undertaken (older stock). Whilst Nikon would honor undertaking the work for free this may not be done in the US.

I would save my cheering until we see what Sony processing is doing and whether this makes any difference in the photos we actually receive.

[unwatch]

What "difference" are you going to be looking for to physically "see" in those photos that is going to make you cheer or not?

How are you going to be able to recognize, without technical exif available, what you are visually looking for?

Nobody purchases Pentax expecting good LV photos of action, so it really doesn’t matter.

So why keep garbling on about your beloved Pentax. Maybe you're trying to take the place of our dearly missed Foveon fan?

The Pentax wizards sometimes do things that had seemed to be impossible by those who know, but I’m not sure they would think it’s worth their time.

Wow ! I suppose we are now going to get a detailed expansion on what those "things" are?

As a matter of fact I do know the first.
I don’t thoroughly know the second, or I would work for Sony.
Do you?

Well, if you had known the the answer to the first question "do you know what a global shutter is?" why would you have made such a statement as this, you would have been sure?

I’m not sure a ‘global shutter’ can’t be used with a DSLR.
