First of all Zudith...this is a fabulous photo! Very striking! The composition is wonderful. The structure is the main subject to me and the tree is beautiful, but the tree branches and the clouds automatically bring the eye back to the structure. Love this photo!
I agree 100% with you Zudith. I am usually experimenting when taking pictures. And 20 people could stand in the same spot and take a picture and no two will be exactly alike. We each see things differently. If everyone followed the same rules, it would be a bit boring! I am fortunate in selling a few of my photos, but what sells are my abstracts. I enjoy producing them which is a blessing! LOL! Going with those inner feelings will do more for you than you think! I truly look forward to your posts!

This should be a fun and informative challenge. Thanks for hosting Sharon.
Your egret image is beautiful....what a terrific job in capturing it.
My most current favorite image is a shot taken at Paul's Lake at sunrise Oct. 13, 2017. I was hoping to capture the fall colors surrounding the lake that are often a beautiful yellow. On this morning I loved the light and color of it and concentrated on that as the sun was not yet high enough to capture the true bright colors of the trees. Settings: f/11 1/100 ISO 800. PP in Corel Paint Shop Pro X9.

One more for tonight and then ZZZZZs for me. Best shot? It represents a milestone - stacking of star trails and then big time (for me) layering and masking. The 2 shots and final image: Star trails, taken at intervals over 30 minutes I think, were stacked in Star STax with gap-filling and average exposure +1 stop then worked in lightroom. The layering was done in Pixelmator.
The bike image was cropped. Shot in Manual ISO 100, f 8, 1/350 103mm with Pentax K3. This is one of my grandson's most favorite shots.

Hard for me to pick favorites or bests - that is the challenge for me. This one is part of a year long study of a stand of trees nearby. This was a particular favorite. Initial processing was in Lightroom 6. Also used Autumn presets and pumpkin spice vignette in On 1. Used Pixelmator to clone the gaps in the canopy. This image was critiqued in On1 and The Photographer and received good reviews which really encouraged me. Taken in Manual Mode, f5.6, ISO 100 1/180 with Pentax K3 The image was cropped into a pseudo pano

I had driven by this scene many, many times in the past with hardly a glance. It was taken almost exactly one year ago. The stillness of the water caught my eye, so I stopped, turned around & took a few shots. This is from just one photo, but because the foreground weeds were not in good focus, I cropped them out. It might have been better with a polarizing filter but the camera is all I had with me on this trip ... no bag full of goodies.
I like it because it is so peaceful looking. Post processed in Lr 5.7. I think the 2nd one (cropped) is the keeper.

What a beautiful, peaceful photo of a lovely place!
This is a challenge I hesitate to submit to, partly because my "Best" are not usually my favorites, and partly because I have long ago stopped trying to follow the rules I learned in the classes I took: using a tripod, using manual settings, using an interchangeable lens camera, etc., and started working toward what looks/feels "best" to me. I have no pretensions of being a professional photographer - I am probably what is referred to as an IWAC (Idiot with a camera!) But I love photography and if one photo in 100 gives me that "Wow" moment then I have succeeded in what I set out to do.

This challenge is "Pick your best photos". What I want you to do is to pick out some of your very best photos and post them one or two maximum at a time. I would like you to say something about each picture including why you like the picture and if you wish you can add your settings, filters, etc. to help us understand what you did. Positive critiquing and/or feedback is greatly appreciated. I have been with the UHH for many years and have watched how the original Hoggers have grown in their photography and editing akilla. Also as of the last year or so we have had many new photographers join in and it has been a wonderful complement to the challenges! So pick out some of your best pictures (that is the hardest part) and start posting them to the challenge . Don't forget that Digital Art is photos, abstracts, HDR, etc. Whatever you enjoy doing in photography. Remember it is a good idea to just post one at a time (2 if you wish) so you can comment and we can reply to each picture. And most important...lets have some fun.
The attached is one of my favorite and best photos of birds in flight. I had been practicing panning and deleting a lot of photos. But this one is one of about 6 photos taken in burst mode. I happened to take the photo to the TexNep photography meeting to be critiqued by a couple of professional nature photographers and I got a very good critique which encouraged me to continue photographing birds in flight and nature in general.
Cheers!

Your photo is beautiful! I have no comments on technique and camera settings - it just looks good!
