Post your favorite images of 2023. They needn't be wall hangers or contest winners (post these too!), to be one of your favorites - maybe because of the story, the people, the place, or something you tried. Tell us why they are among your favorites of last year. I'm looking forward to seeing your favorites and reading your stories.

Is the last image a sandpiper? Minimalism at its finest!

[quote=Lucian]You don't pull your own Christmas cracker, what you do is cross your arms and everyone has a hand on your cracker and the other hand on the person next to you. Then at the signal, we all pull hard and bang go the crackers. at least that is how it has always been done in Wales.

Neat! I'll have to remember that next Christmas!

Do many families in England use the "crackers" at their Christmas dinners? All the English TV shows have them. We've been doing that in our family for years. Amazon has lots of choices. You can also buy them from Fortnum and Mason in England, for £250 and up - each.

We picked up the custom when we spent Christmas in Edinburgh several years ago and now it's a family tradition. We usually buy our crackers at TJMAXX - a six pack for about $20. It makes for a fun time at our Christmas dinner.

Last night afWeter an outing to see Christmas lights, we stopped at Steak & Shake. At the "new" versions of the restaurants, over half the menu is gone, one must order from a kiosk, no waiters, no condiments on the tables, only three employees, dirty tables, etc.

Note to self: Never, ever eat at Steak & Shake again. It used to be one of my favorite so-called fast food places to eat. Quote the raven, nevermore (apologies to E.A.Poe).

Wow - that's really a bummer!! We used to frequent a Steak & Shake in the Pittsburgh area but suddenly the service took a dive and shortly after that the place closed. Too bad, they had the best hamburgers!

A good one, Sue. You have nice leading lines with the divided audience, her white coat grabs your attention, and the B&W work is good.

Thanks, Voss - much appreciated!

Thank you all for looking and enjoying this image. It was taken at the John Allen House in Zenia, Ohio, which is a circa 1880 brick house owned, restored, and managed by a gentleman who is also a pastor of a non-denominational church in the area. We had an excellent one night stay and will be returning the next time we're visiting our granddaughter who is enrolled in the nearby Cedarville University.

Yes, it did. It was instrumental in bringing about the Protestant Reformation.

The girl in the striped dress was trying to protect her hair with her purse. I shot this while waiting at a stop light.
