Kind of like the buggy whip makers and Kodak's film division for a few historical comparisons of markets that disappeared almost overnight ...

Let’s see: currently in my fridge and freezer I have Tri-X, Ektar, Ektachrome and Pro100 all in date and made by… oh Yes, Kodak. Not quite disappeared.

'68, still on board. Way too much great Nikon stuff to consider any other brand. It will outlast me in all probability.

January 1969 for me with a Nikon F/Photomic FTN. I've had many others in between, including Olympus OM2 and still have an OM10 on the shelf. Currently Film Nikons: FE and F6, Digital Nikons D7100 and a recently acquired Z6. Gifted my D5000 to a son. Plenty of lenses both new and legacy (AI).

Consumer Reports consistently that Behr, the Home Depot paint is one of the best. I do a lot of painting and know others who paint also. None of us would ever use it a second time.

Back in the film days (1970 or so) CR rated several definitely lesser SLRs ahead of the Nikkormat because the Nikkormat came with “only” an f/2.0 lens and not the expected f/1.4 lens. Their “review staff” was not aware that you could buy it with any lens you wanted (or none at all). From that day on I have ignored CR’s quite amateurish ratings. They were at that time professional “raters” and not by any means experts in any field. Apparently they have not changed.

I’ve seen his website too. What’s your problem with it? I think it’s pretty damned good.

I ran a one-hour lab way back in the late '80s and occasionally got C-41 B&W film. Printing them always had a green cast to them. I guess it was good enough to decide what could be printed on B&W paper.

I’ve been going through some old photographs lately that I took with my Canon Elph and my Minolta APS SLR and the black-and-white pictures which were on Kodak C 41 black and white Advantix film do not have any color cast to them so some of some processors were doing a good job with it.

Get in touch with Nikon customer service. To see about exchanging the Z6 for the Z611 Right away as soon as possible a little bit more you would have to pay it’s worth it by a lot

I checked out the prices before I bought the Z6 and the difference was more than I could manage.

Back in September 1976, I started learning photography. I saved my allowance and money I earned taking care of a Sheepdog named “Bagels.” I went to Olden camera on East 33rd Street in New York City. I looked around and found the camera. It was a new Zenit-E and weighed as much as Cinder Block and looked much like the same. I took it where ever I went and used it constantly. I was using color film and would buy five or six rolls at a time. Then, as students we were asked to use black and white film. We were told to be creative and seek out contrasts, anywhere and everywhere. I had a few exposures left on a particular roll of ASA400-BW film. I brought the rolls to the pharmacy and forgot to check the BW Box. All the film was ruined except the BW400CN roll. I noticed the portraits of my teachers had these Sienna tones. What was an accident turned out to be a wonderful surprise.
After a few years, I purchased a Canon EOS Rebel 2000. I had some great shots back then and I only had two kit lens. But I miss the days when I could buy that film. Now I buy a few rolls that are expired and play with the ISO on my Canon 1v-HS.

I wish that Kodak would resurrect that film.

They resurrected Ektachrome. There is still some hope for others.

Congrats and enjoy. What Nikon lenses do you already own?

Most of my lenses are DX so will work fine on the D7100 but not on the Z6 with adapter or on my film Nikons (F6 and FE). My "modern" FF DSLR lenses are the 85mm f/1.8 and the 50 mm f/1.8. I also have several legacy AI or AIS lenses but I haven't checked the compatibility chart for them yet. My 35mm f/2.8 perspective control lens will NOT work on the Z6. I think the Z 24-70 covers most of what I want and I can go manual with my longer legacy lenses and just work slowly. After all that expenditure I am not up for a Z telephoto zoom yet. Maybe next year.

I gave my D5000 and 2 DX lenses to one of my sons for his birthday today. I haven't used it since I got the 7100 some years ago. Amazingly the battery charged up. I gave him the 55-200 and a Tamron 17-50 mm to get him started. I don't plan on selling the D7100 and will hold on to all of my film cameras either to use or to display.

If that last line was anything other than "everything needed to be said" we'd all be taking all our pictures on smart phones. It is the pleasure of using a fine instrument that makes so much of the relevant difference.

Did you forget to get the Photo Flo?

Nah, I got the Photo Flo also. Turns out Photo Flo is a "gateway drug."
BTW Nikon has a huge discount, relatively, on the FTZ adapter if you buy it WITH the camera $249.95 alone, $99.95 if you buy it with the camera.

You could have saved a lot of money by just having the film developed.

Of course you spent $2,600 investing in a lot of future fun.

But developing is fun too!

Yesterday I was up in Manchester (NH) and took the opportunity to go into Hunt Photo to buy some PhotoFlo because I have a wayward roll of film from my Bronica to develop. I bought that along with a couple of plastic bottles. Then I looked at cameras.

45 minutes later and some $2600+ later I walked out.

With: A Nikon Z6 kit (with the 24-70 f/4 lens), an FTZ adapter ($99.95 if bought with the camera), a CFexpress card of some 128 gigabytes, a reader for the card, a polarizing filter, and an extended 3 year warranty against everything including loss and damage and destruction. The Z6 is currently on a Nikon-wide sale.

GAS attack has been assuaged. The menu and button structure is somewhat different from my D7100 but close enough that intuition and judicious use of the manual will get me through. And ergonomically, it is a joy to hold and to use.
