Good thought to carry extras. Who knows what might happen. I once dropped a micro SD card from a Canon Elf while camping. The next day I discovered it in my shoelaces... I carry a laptop on my trips and download to an external HD every evening. I try not to erase SD cards until I have gotten home and done an additional backup.
Do you think anyone would be the wiser if he corrected the waterline sloping down to the left?
I was up early in Copper Harbor MI and took about 50 frames to catch the beacon. The morning mist included some of the excaping rays. Nice shot from a moving deck! I almost tossed my cookies trying to shoot from the tour boat in Lake Superior...
Thanks! Fortunately the canopy area is somewhat rough (smoky) thru the glass to begin with.
This pilot wanted the photo revised to eliminate the race logo and reduce the glare on the cowl and canopy. Logo was just a layer I blanked and then cloned the glare away. Result? He ordered a 20x8 print, a t-shirt and a box of greeting cards.
Fun stuff!
Good that you pulled over. Thanks for sharing!
A monopod would be better than nothing. Doubles as a walking stick.
I think I would have been much steadier with a card table to rest my elbows on. I tried the tripod last year but learned quickly that there's too much action to be anchored that tight.
Thanks, Bob! The other launch photos are in the link above. Look up Sport Air Racing Association for races near you.
This weekend was fun shooting the Big Muddy Air Race in Carbondale, IL. 35 planes arrived by racetime.
As did the weather. Only 9 planes completed the 150+ mile course... About 25 launched but the storm over the Mississippi lead most to abort.
The pics of takeoff I shot with Canon 7D, 100-400 5.6f + 1.4x TC. Tried to keep the shutter speed down to get some prop blur. Toughest task was framing and focusing... One plane I didn't get a single decent shot... oh well...
If you search with a computer other than your own you won't be seeing your own history. Go to the library and try to duplicate the search.
Ya... I bumped up the f also.
