I'm confused. Yesterday I was told by a Canon rep. that they could not repair my lens and that it was being sent bac to me.
I just received this email:
We have received your equipment for evaluation and repair. Based on our initial examination, we will begin the necessary repairs at no charge to you. You can
expect the repairs to be completed and shipped back to you within approximately 7 business days* from the date shown above. There is no need to respond to
this notice.
this was dated 9/15/2023. I'm hoping that the email is correct and they will return my lens in 7 days.
I will wait and see.

It could be. Alas, "24-70" says nothing specific in a way the UHH community could assess the expected age of any specific model of the various Canon EF lens models covering 24-70. Regardless of the model, here we do see potential longer-term issues of discontinued equipment with mirrorless, even DSLR, model cameras. Do you have a DSLR to see if the lens still operates without the adapter involved?

Yes i still have my MIII and i plan on testing it out. Thanks for the suggestion.

I have been a canon user for many years. Now shooting with a R6 with ef lens.
My 24-70 with adp quit working because it would not talk to the body. So I sent the lens and adp to canon service to repair the problem.
I just talked to the service center and they said that the lens is too old and they don't have parts to fix it. However they will sell me another one for $1200.
So the old adage is that lens last forever is not true.
So I guess that my 25-105 will become my go to lens.

It all about the money. I have purchase a couple of rf lens 24-50 and 16 prime. I was having problems with my ef f24-70 and the adp. the lens would not work with my r6. Sent the lens and adp to Canon to service. Waiting for the return.

Use your wide angles for iconic shots such as: Tunnel View; Glacier Point (or little brother Washburn Point); the other side of Half Dome from Olmsted Point, and while there, the gnarled pine tree surround by cracked granite slabs; and even the valley from the Merced River at Yosemite Valley View (on Northside Drive just before El Portal Rd), with the huge fallen tree trunk that's been there for years for foreground. Then do something different, something that hasn't been done countless times before.

Consider using a longer lens for landscapes. The longer the lens, the more lens compression you get in a photo. Long lenses draw the background forward, giving a different look. If the narrower field of view isn't enough, take several overlapping shots and stitch them in post. If you take these shots in portrait orientation, you can end up with a typical 3:2 photo when you're finished, but the image will look entirely different from a photo taken with a wide.

I regularly shoot landscapes with a portrait-length lens, or I end up with the equivalent after cropping in post. Many photographers do.
Use your wide angles for iconic shots such as: Tun... (show quote)

I will pack my 70-200 lens. However I will not be taking my car into the valley. We will be taking a bus from Oakhurst to and from. Part of the tour package.

You will need more wide angle lens than telephoto as the views are close up. I would however take one long lens as you are driving for the occasional wild life.

In all of my trips to Yosemite I have never seen any wildlife. except for a few birds. Too many people

I don’t believe it is as simple as you present it. We received one set of cartridges, Punct. You probably don’t even go on their list to receive another until you return the old ones. Don’t forget that HP makes their money selling cartridges, not by selling printers.

hp doesn't want the cartridges returned. they will provide info on how to recycle.
