I graduated high school in 1963 in Alabama, then went to college and came to California in 1967. I tell my wife I somehow missed the 60s, because I grew up in Alabama in the early 60s, when Alabama was still in the 50s (except for the Civil Rights movement), then moved lived in California in the late 60s, when California was already moving into the 70s - so I missed the 60s.

As opposed to my BS from Georgia Tech (minor in Physics), MS and PhD from Caltech and 32 years at TRW/Northrop Grumman. Please give a reference in literature or on the web. (or we can quit this silly debate )

Photomatix HDR is a stand-alone software package. You can get Photomatix Essentials ($39) or Photomatix Pro ($99). I started with Essentials and then got Pro. Essentials really has everything that is needed. You can download them from their website.

That's what I use.

First, the main place of interest in Quebec City is Old Quebec, the original city of Quebec, which is very walkable through mostly narrow old streets. Its is not a museum, but vibrant, beautiful and living throwback to an earlier time. Lots of interesting shops. There are many group walking tours available and I suggest you try one. Almost everything in the Old Quebec is, well...old, very old. While not a truly historical building the Chateau Frontenac is an imposing edifice as well as a very expensive Fairmont hotel. It is quite beautiful and can be seen from just about everywhere. There are also the Plains of Abraham where the Battle of Quebec was fought, and which is now a rolling park high above the St. Lawrence River. There are wonderful French restaurants throughout the old town. While some folks there might take US currency you should get Canadian currency, and of course you can always use charge cards. Because it is a tourist city most everyone speaks at least some English. Other than old Quebec, Quebec City is not terribly interesting, just another city.

Use software like ProShow Gold to make slide shows to put on your computer, TV or YouTube. Add text, other graphics like simple maps, scanned memorabilia, etc. Add music. The software allows you to include a large variety of transitions, zooms, pans and other effects. The so-called "Ken Burns effect" is a good one to try.

This is exactly what I do as well. I also enjoy selecting appropriate music to accompany the video. I burn the whole video to a DVD (flash drives are another option, of course). I typically start with 1000-1200 photos from a 2-3 week vacation, select the best 100 or so, combine them into the video (with a few montages, maps, itinerary slides from PowerPoint as needed), so that the whole video is ~15 minutes. That's a reasonable enough length for people to sit through without getting bored, and it also gives a pretty good overview of the trip. It also looks good when put on a 50" flat screen HDTV.

Wrong. Escape velocity is that required to leave the influence of earths gravity as in going to the moon, Mars, or space travel... Orbital velocity (about 17,000 mph) is the speed to reach near earth orbit and 25,000 mph is the speed require for a geosynchronous orbit (stationary over one point on earth) or orbital velocity.. That what you are missing.

Sorry to disagree, but my minor physics background says escape velocity is still ~25000 mph, or ~ 7 mps. You're correct in that that velocity is that which is required to leave the earth, but strictly speaking you never completely leave the influence of the earth's gravity. (You do, however, get far enough that another body's - like the sun, moon, Mars - gravity dominates.) You're also right about orbital velocity being ~17000 mph for a LEO satellite. A geosynchronous orbit has a velocity of ~ 2 mps; that doesn't however, mean that you only have to go 2 mps to get to geosynchronous orbit. For further reference, see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Escape_velocity and http://www.planetary.org/blogs/jason-davis/20140116-how-to-get-a-satellite-to-gto.html. The equations to calculate all this are pretty straightforward. What is your reference that escape velocity is ~ 9 mps?

escape velocity to leave earth they said about 7 mile per second - that's orbital velocity escape velocity is closer to 9 miles per second.

Actually, escape velocity is about 25000 mi/hr, or about 7 mi/s. What am I missing here? What's wrong with their answer?

Well, if you made the leap and got married in the first place, and are not happy being married get a divorce.

I was married for 28 years before I did, and sacrificed many good years because I delayed.

If you have religious problems with divorce, divorce the religion first.

Best thing is to live alone; you can do exactly whatever you want to do and whenever you want to do it.

The only reason for marriage is to have children, and that, too, is highly overrated.

If you want or need a woman just remember they are like street cars; one comes by every 5 minutes.

And, because men usually die at an earlier age than women, the older a man gets, the more women there are to choose from. The problem with that is most women - not all of 'em - don't age well.

For further advice, ask any man who is divorced. Most will repeat what I've just said.

I'm sorry for you. My wife (third one) and I’ve been married 34 years - best thing ever happened to me, but it did take me three tries to get it right.

Wow, Tom, you must have had a bad one if you were married and now not. Gonna be 49 for the Spousal Unit and me in October. Yeah, we get on each others' nerves on occasion. We give each other " space" (most of the time)..........and things are fine. Any married couple that says that they never fight must not speak to each other EVER. LOL What a boring life they must have. And after this many years (and raising 3 boisterous sons) I have learned to pick my battles, and most of them aren't/weren't worth the effort. Probably why I'm still sane and happy. :>)

I have a 77D and I love it. I had also considered the T7i, but decided on 77D because of the additional features, including the top LCD Screen. Autofocus is excellent and fast. The low light capabilities are actually improved over the 80D, even though the 80D does offer weather sealing, a better viewfinder etc. Because it has the newer Canon Digic 7 processor, the 77D has a max native ISO of 25600, expanded to 51,200. (The 80D has a max native ISO of 16,000, expandable to 25,600). I've been impressed by the low light performance of the camera. I highly recommend the 77D based on my experience with the camera. The sale price right now of $649.00 on a new 77D is an amazing deal.
